Div One: Bolga All Stars 2 - 0 B.A United

Bolga All Stars FC continued to winning ways on match day of the GN Bank Division One League on Sunday at Bolgatanga sports stadium.

The Upper-East capital-based club, having lost to regional rivals Bawku United on week two of the new season, played a good game to secure victory at home over BA United.

They started on the front foot, pushing the B.A United to the wall, and Noah Neequaye opened the floodgates 15 minutes into the first half to ensure their early dominance paid off.

B.A reacted to cancel the the advantage, but the Stars of the East boys maintained their composure to maintain the lead into the dressing room for recess

The 2nd half saw BA United make some few attempts in the All Stars danger zone but they failed to make their dominance pay off with a goal.

The pendulum swung in favour of the home side and they took control of the game, wowing spectators to cheer. The fans pushed the team on to go for a cushion and responded to the calls, and mounted pressure on BA United, playing almost the last 10 minutes in the half of the visitors.

A beautiful ball work on the right flank by Basit Abdulai and Issaku Yahaya paid off in the 90th minutes when Richard Akologo scored a goal that could well content for goal of the season with a half scissor kick to send the whole stadium into raptures.

The 3 minutes of added time couldn’t safe BA United from defeat as the game 2-0 in favour of Bolga All Stars FC. The victory now put Bolga All Stars on the 3rd spot of the league log with three points adrift of table toppers Berlin FC after match day 3.

Noah Neequaye Star As Bolga All Stars Floor Tamale Utrecht

Bolga All Stars claimed top spot of Zone One after match day one of the GN Bank Division One league after smoothly defeating Tamale Utrecht 2-0 at the Bolgatanga sports stadium on Sunday afternoon.

A brace from top striker Noah Neequaye in each half of the game sealed the victory for the Stars of the East on the opening day of Ghana’s second domestic  flagship club competition.

Bolga All Stars dominated play from start to finish.

And their persistent dominance paid dividends on the 44th minute through Noah Neequaye who volleyed home after a super defence-splitting ball  by Prosper Ayine sent him through on goal, and he broke the virginity of the game.

The late first half strike was the only goal separating the two teams at the end of the first half.

Bolga All Stars continued from where they left off before recess and bossed the game in the second half of the match and could have added a second in the 56th minute, but Issaku Yahaya came second best to the Tamale Utrecht goalie after a one-on-one encounter.

At the other at the end of the pitch, Tamale Utrecht almost drew level on the 62nd minute but the timely clearance by Latif Abubakari, who eventually became the best player on the day after the final whistle, kept the score at 1-0.

Bolga All Stars lost it inspirational skipper Yussif Gomah to injury in the 72nd minute but that didn’t destabilised them as Noah Neequaye waltzed his way through the visitors defense and expertly volleyed home a good strike for the second goal, and his personal brace in the dying embers of the game, sending the Stars of the East to the summit of the league log after the first league games in Zone One.

Bolga All Stars next game in the division one league is an away tie against regional rivals Bawku United at the Bawku sports stadium on Sunday.

GN Bank Presents GHS 690,000 To GFA

Sponsors of the Division One League, Groupe Nduome Bank has presented a cheque of 690, 000.00 to the Ghana Football Association to help clubs in the Division One League.

GN Bank accepted the responsibility to sponsor the second flagship domestic club competition last year, and has presented its annual sponsorship package to the football governing body of Ghana.

Lawyer Kweku Eyiah received the cheque on behalf of the GFA

The cheque was received by Executive Committee member of the Ghana FA, Lawyer Kweku Eyiah on behalf of the FA at the launch of the 2016 season.

The Division One League is expected to start this weekend across all the three Zones in the Division.
