Black Stars vice captain, Andre Dede Ayew, has emerged as a surprise target for new Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, after ruling out any big money arrival.

The Italian trainer singled-out the Liberty Stadium fan favorite  as the man to add fire power to his attacking department, ahead of an imminent season of intense competition.

Andre Ayew took the 2015/16 Premiership season by storm on his arrival at Welsh side, Swansea City FC and, looks destined to open a new chapter in his career after his stellar show in his first season in top flight English football.

The former Olympique Marseille attacker registered 11 goals for the Swans, including an opening strike at Stamford Bridge away to the Blues.

New trainer for the West London side, Conte, ruled out any mega-money arrival at the 2012 Champions League winners in favor of the Ghana international.

Swansea have already cushioned themselves ahead of the season with the capture of Cameroon forward, Benjamin Moukanjou, from the French Ligue 1.

Jose Mourinho has issued a statement congratulating Claudio Ranieri and Leicester on their historic Premier League title win.

Leicester were confirmed as English champions following Tottenham’s 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs had looked like taking the title race to the penultimate weekend of the season when they went two goals up but second-half strikes from Gary Cahill and Eden Hazard ended the North London club’s slim hopes of catching Leicester.

Mourinho, whose former side in drawing with Spurs finally surrendered their status as champions, told CAA Sports: “I want to congratulate everyone connected to Leicester; players, staff, owners and fans.

Mourinho replaced Ranieri as Chelsea manager in 2004 because Blues owner Roman Abramovich believed the Italian wasn’t capable of delivering the title to Stamford Bridge.

Speaking 12 years on, after his Leicester side were confirmed as champions, Ranieri hailed his players, who were last summer a 5,000/1 long shot to end the season as title winners.

John Obi Mikel has openly criticized Jose Mourinho for over-looking the positives of his performances and has blamed him for downfall during his era as coach of Chelsea FC.

The Nigerian is a player reborn under Guus Hiddink and is enjoying the playing time under current Chelsea manager unlike he used to under the ex-blues’ boss.

The Super Eagles told goal.com in an interview that his relationship with Jose had become stressed, he claimed that he didn’t get any recognition under the Special One.

“I think the confidence is everything, if a manager doesn’t believe in you, trust me there’s no way you can succeed.” he told Goal.com.

The midfielder blames Mourinho for the downfall in his game. He believes the reason for his degraded performances was the lack of trust from the manager.

Mikel also added that Mourinho would find faults in his performances even when he would do things right or the way he wanted them to be.

Mikel believes he has already started feeling the benefits from the faith of new manager,as he is getting the recognition he wants and has become a mainstay in Chelsea’s midfield since the axe fell on Jose Mourinho.

GFA Confirm Ordering Avram Grant To Return

Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Saani Daara has confirmed that the football governing body has asked Avram Grant to return to the country.

Avram Grant has been out of Ghana for about three months,  with only that Christmas period and one after new year been the official days the FA allocated to him to spend time outside the West African country.

But the Israeli has spent additional two months in Europe, and his employees has written to him to return home and monitor the national league which began two weeks ago.

“Let me state as a matter of fact that the Ghana FA has asked him to come down because the league is underway,” Ghana FA Communications head Ibrahim Sannie Daara told Joy FM.

“We are also getting close to our match against Mozambique and therefore we need him here and in due course he will be here.” he said.

Media reports claim the FA do not have the balls to approach the former Chelsea manager when go contrary to the agreement signed with the Association, but Saani Daara insist they control what ever he does.

“We are very much in touch with him, we control what he does and we would want to state that if he does anything that is untoward we will call him to book.” he said.

Executive Chairman of Dreams Football Club, Kurt Okraku says Chelsea left-back, Baba Rahman is the best in his position in the world.

The Dreams FC academy graduate moved from Asante Kotoko to Greuter Furth in Germany before sealing deal to Augsburg, helping the club to achieve its highest finish ever in the history of the Bundesliga.

Chelsea have left striker Radamel Falcao out of their 22-man squad for the Champions League knockout stages.

 

The Colombian flop has been linked with a move to China after failing to make an impact during his loan spell from Monaco.

Jordan Ayew To Battle Mikel Obi For EPL African Player Of The Month Award

Ghanaian international Jordan Ayew of Aston Villa, Chelsea’s Nigeria midfielder Mikel Obi and Senegalese star Cheikhou Kouyate of West Ham are the final three in the shortlist for the African Player in the English Premier League of January.

The statement signed by awards director Tunde Adelakun explained that the month showed signs of a long and hard season for the Premier League players so far with players like Odion Ighalo and Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez still proving doubters wrong as they continued sparkling form.

But, according to Adelakun, this month is ‘a tribute to the Africans who are making their own contribution in their own way, in their clubs’ trying times’.

Apart from Kouyate, whose West Ham are certainly riding high, getting impressive results against the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, and an impressive away win at Bournemouth, the other two nominees are having a season to forget in their respective clubs.

Chelsea, champions of England only last season, are not having the best of times. But, as Adelakun pointed out, ‘things have taken a turn for the up for the champions, unbeaten in eight games since the departure of former manager Mourinho, but more importantly, a restore to starting eleven duties for Nigerian Jon Obi Mikel”.

Continuing, he said “Mikel has put an air of settlement in the Chelsea midfield and we thought we should recognise his input by shortlisting him for January’s award”.

The same can be said of Ghanaian Jordan Ayew, who is having a torrid season with Aston Villa, seemingly unable to pick points to take them off the bottom of the table.

However, Ayew has been playing really well, showing signs of why he was highly rated and picked up by Villa in the summer.

In the statement, Adelakun was quoted as saying “the quality of Ayew’s skill, ability and work rate belies the position his team is on the table, but that is football”, he concluded.

Chelsea Football Club have announced the loan signing of Alexandre Pato from Corinthians until the end of the season.

Pato, whose full name is Alexandre Rodrigues da Silva, is a versatile forward player with an excellent touch and impressive turn of pace.

Pato said: ‘I am so happy to sign for Chelsea. It is a dream for me. I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know my new team-mates and cannot wait to play.

‘I thank Chelsea for their support and hope I can repay this faith to the club and its fans.’

Emerging as one of world football’s hottest properties while at Internacional in his native Brazil, Pato earned a move to then-European champions AC Milan in the summer of 2007.

He flourished in his first season in Serie A under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti and continued to impress with his vision, movement, and clinical finishing, netting 14 goals in the Rossoneri’s title-winning campaign of 2010/11.

Pato left Milan in January 2013 having scored 63 goals in 150 appearances. He returned to Brazil to play for Corinthians and subsequently enjoyed a successful loan spell at their city rivals Sao Paulo before becoming a Chelsea player.

Pato has made 27 appearances for his national team, scoring 10 goals, and represented his country at both the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.

I"m Going To Levante For Playing Time - Atsu

Chelsea FC winger Christian Atsu has explained that his decision for choosing Spanish La liga side, Levante is because he wants enough playing time.

The Ghanaian attacking winger since his move to London, had a brilliant season in Netherland with Chelsea sister side Vitesse Arheim.

But a return to England has curtailed his blistering career. He had a spell at Everton last season to forget, and a move to newly promoted premier league side Bournemouth was worse due to recurring injuries.

Chelsea recalled the 2015 Africa Cup of nations player of the tournament and has loaned him out to Levante.

Christian Atsu, confirming his next move said: “I wished the team [Chelsea] good luck and I told the players i will be going to Levante,” the former FC Porto midfielder said.

Christian Atsu is hopeful that the style of the La liga suits him, but he ia not interested in the kind of game played in Spain.

“I am going to Spain and I think is a new challenge for me and I’m going to work harder. I believe Spanish football will suit my style of play, but as a player you should be able to play in any league.

“Right now, is not about the league that suits you or not where it doesn’t suit you, now is where I will get enough playing time.” He said.

The 24-year-old also revealed that he had a heart-to-heart chat with interim Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink and is convinced a good performance in Spain will earn him first team football with the London club.

“I spoke with the coach and we had a very good chat and I think if i work hard there at least he will give me a chance.”

Christian Atsu moved to Chelsea from FC Porto in the 2013, and a move to Levante will be his fourth move away from the club.

Chelsea Football Club has announced that Branislav Ivanovic has signed a new one-year contract.

The defender, 31, was made vice-captain at the beginning of this season, and his new deal will now extend his stay to the summer of 2017.

Ivanovic after extending his stay with the defending premier league champions said: ‘I am very happy to stay with Chelsea for another season. After eight years here this is my home and there is no other place I would rather play football.

‘I have enjoyed so much success since moving to the club and I am determined to help the team achieve more in the last months of this season and next year as well.’

Ivanovic arrived Stamford Bridge in January 2008, and has won every major club honour, including the Champions League and two Premier League titles, three FA Cups and one League Cup, as well as heading the winner in the 2013 Europa League final.

Kwadwo Asamoah has rejected claims that he could leave Juventus this winter or in the summer for a new home in England to ply his trade.

The Ghanaian international has been linked to a host of English clubs including Chelsea and Manchester United and Arsenal.

But Asamoah joined Juventus in 2012 from Udinese and was a key member of the team that wob the Scudetto back-to-back, but has made just five league appearances for the Old Lady since November 2014 due to a series of recurrent injuries.

He says he has no team in mind because of that.

“Honestly, I don’t have any team in mind now all because of my injuries,” Asamoah told

“I’m currently focusing on my recovery and getting more playing time. I’ve been with this team for a long time and I’m so happy and they’ve been supportive – players, management and everyone.

“They do everything that they ought to do for me and I’ll always love to be with them. They are so amazing. If I have to say all the things that they’ve done for me, I wouldn’t finish.

“The possibility of me changing clubs in the summer will be difficult. For now, there’s nothing on the table. But I’m a footballer and I do what I have to do on the field. The rest is for my agent. I honestly haven’t thought of leaving now.”

Avram Grant Has Nothing Special in Ghana - Kwabena Yeboah

The president of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana Kwabena Yeboah says Avram Grant’s has done nothing special since taking over the Black Stars  job a yea go.

The Israeli was appointed Kwesi Appiah’s successor about a year ago and led the national team to the finals of the 2015 Africa Cup of nations in Equatorial Guinea.

When he was confirmed the boss on a 2017-month contract, the Ghana Football Association told the country he will stay home and watch the local league for talents he deem an upgrade ti the Black Stars.

But the former Chelsea manager who is US$ 40,000 monthly salary, watched only five league games last season with the excuse that he’s monitoring players abroad.

He was also tasked to organise seminars for local coaches and it took him a year to meet the home based coaches for a seminar in the country and has since left the shores of the West African country.

And ace journalist and football commentator, Kwabena Yeboah says Avram Grant has been below par since he came into Ghana.

“I don’t think that he has done anything special to attract my attention. On the contrary, I have a lot of criticisms against him,” Yeboah told Starr FM.

Avram Grant is paid US $ 4000 and Kwabena Yeboah believes he doesn’t merit such huge sums of money.

“I don’t understand why he thinks that we should pay him that kind of money to spend more time in Europe monitoring who and what?”

Kwabena Yeboah was the chief commentator for the Africa Union of Broadcasters during the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and Brazil respectively.

Baba Frustrated At Warming Chelsea"s Bench.

Ghana international Baba Abdul Rahman has confessed he is growing frustrated by his lack of playing time since moving to English Premier league side, Chelsea.

Baba Rahman joined in the London club in August from Augsburg last year for a reported fee of  £21, but has made just four Premier League appearances so far after failing to edge ahead of first-choice full backs César Azpilicueta and Branislav Ivanovic.

In an interview with German magazine Sport, Bild , the former Asante Kotoko defender has admitted he has found the transition difficult.

Reports in the English media say Chelsea has ruled out loaning the ex-Dreams Football Club academy graduate for the second part of the season.

“Of course it’s frustrating for any footballer to sit in the stands and I don’t want to experience that too much more,” he said.

“As a young player, of course, you have to get used to such a big club and a world-class league. For me the first half of the season was pretty ok but in the second half I really want to play more. Chelsea are one of the best clubs in the world.”

Baba Rahman was signed by former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, but the Portuguese used him sparingly in the first two months, but he insist he nothing but respect for his former manager, who has been replaced by Guus Hiddink.

“He always gave me tips on how to improve both defensively and going forward,” he said.

“I liked him right from the first moment. Every player would benefit from working with him.”

Baba Rahman’s advisor insists the out of favour full-back will NOT be quitting Chelsea during the transfer window.

Rahman has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge since arriving in a £17million move from Germanb club Augsburg during the summer.

Chelsea signed Rahman believing he would become a regular starter in the left-back role which for the past two seasons has been occupied by the naturally right-footed Cesar Azpilicueta

But the 21-year-old has looked raw during his nine appearances for the Blues this season, and hasn’t featured since Guus Hiddink took charge of the club.

That had led to claims that the Ghana international left-back would be looking to make a loan move elsewhere to help his development.

But Kurt Okraku, who acts as one of Rahman’s advisors, was quoted on radio in Ghana as insisting his man was not looking to leave.

Okraku said: “There is nothing lined up for now. He is certainly going to stay at Chelsea.”

Jose Mourinho was sacked as Chelsea boss after guiding the Blues to their fifth premier league title in the club’s history and Guus Hiddink like Mourinho returns to Chelsea for the second time as Interim boss but it is neither managers under the spotlight or receiving the praise for the teams revival, but rather Mikel Obi.

 

Many have asked why Mikel is or has still been at Chelsea with limited game time thrown at him and questioned why his talent has been wasted with a change in his favoured attacking position to a defensive midfielder. Mikel Obi was once touted to rule the world of football along with perhaps the best player the game has seen – Lionel Messi, during the Fifa Youth world cup in 2005.

The 28 – year old Nigerian international had firstly changed from the attacking player that got Manchester united and Chelsea fight over his signature as a teenager to a defensive midfielder. Mourinho signed Obi to Chelsea in 2005 under controversial circumstances after Manchester united had unveiled him and this cost Chelsea to pay compensation to United for forcing the Nigerian to terminate his contract.

 

Mikel Obi has undoubtedly played his best games at Chelsea under one manager and one manager only and that’s Guus Hiddink. The Dutch manager’s appointment after fans favourite Mourinho was sacked was well and truly appreciated by Mikel when he asked team mates to put a poor defense of their title behind and focus on the future.

 

The Nigerian international has started all games under Hiddink and has spearheaded a Chelsea revival, thanks to a much needed defensive shield for the Blues defenders. Chelsea have leaked goals and since Mourinho’s ninth defeat in the league are yet to taste one under the Dutch boss.

Chelsea put in their best performance of the 2015/16 season away to Crystal Palace. The defending league champions defeated their London rivals by 3 – goals to nil and moved from 16th place to 14th on the league table. Mikel Obi won the man-of-the-match with a spectacular showing and team work that got the praise from his manager Hiddink.

He added, “he (Mikel) can recover his radar, he reads the game very well, he knows where the strength of the opponent is and knows how to combat that. I don’t expect the decisive final pass from him – he can (do that), but he can also let the other players (play).”

Mikel will hope to improve upon this performance and form to enable him keep his immediate competitor and out-of-form Serbian international Nemanja Matic warming the substitutes bench.

Christian Atsu Set For Chelsea Return

Chelsea are set to recall tricky winger Christian Atsu from his loan spell at Bournemouth.

The Ghana international, whose season has been wrecked by injury, has made just two appearances for the Cherries this season; both coming in the Capital One Cup.

And the Blues have discussed ending his loan deal which was due to run until the end of the season.

Interim manager Guus Hiddink will then decide whether to keep him in the squad or loan him back out.

The 23-year-old is yet to play for Chelsea having joined the Premier League champions in 2011 from Portuguese outfit Porto.

It’s not been easy for Atsu, who also saw a loan spell at Everton not go to plan as he made just five appearances at Goodison Park.

He had more success on loan at Vitesse Arnhem back in 2013-14, where he scored five goals in 28 appearances in the Eredivisie.

Atsu burst on to the scene at Porto back in 2013 after a loan spell at Rio Ave and made just 17 appearances before Chelsea decided to make their move.

Ghanaian international Jordan Ayew is likely to have Chelsea’s Loic Remy as his new strike partner at Aston Villa.

This was after head coach of Aston Villa, Remi Garde said he will try to sign him on loan in the January transfer window.

Garde wants the 28-year-old Frenchman to strengthen a Villa side four points adrift at the bottom of the Premier League – and 11 from safety.

“Loic is special. He knows the country and league, and would be an interesting player for the team,” Garde said.

But Chelsea caretaker boss Guus Hiddink is unimpressed with Garde making his interest in the player public.

Remy, who joined Chelsea in a £10.5m move from QPR last year, has started only one Premier League game this season after suffering several injuries, scoring twice in the League Cup and once in the league.

“You have to respect where the players are,” Hiddink said. “If you are interested, talk first to the people with whom they are contracted. You cannot go into details.

“The player has signed a contract here and must be fit for us. He’s having a difficult time regarding his injuries. He has to prove first of all that he’s a good Chelsea player. He has had a calf problem for several days.”
