GPL Players Are Riped For Black Stars - Saani

The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Sannie Daara says players in the local scene are ripe for a place in the senior national team, the Black Stars.

Saani Daara is impressed with the quality of play since the start of the Ghana Premier league (GPL) and he is convinced the players have made a case for themselves.

According to him, there are good players in the GPL Ghana Premier League who will be able to feature for the national side and all they need is an opportunity granted them by inviting them to the squad.

“I believe Samuel Tetteh can play for the Black Stars, he is even part of the recent squad. Samudeen Ibrahim and a lot of other players in the league will play when given the opportunity. Evan Mensah (Inter Allies), Lawson Bekui (Dreams FC) who scored a brace last Sunday and other players granted the opportunity will perform.” The FA spokesperson said.

“You are not fair when judgments are pronounced when you haven’t given players the opportunity to display their ability. There are a lot of players that can play for the Black Stars, not necessarily pull a chair under the table but even on the bench. The players and clubs have prepared well for the season.” He added.

The FA spokesperson explained further that there is an improvement in clubs and players’ display this season and thinks it sends a signal that these quality players can feature for the Black Stars.

“Kotoko has an improved side as compared to last season even though the desired results is yet to be achieved. It is same with Dreams FC, a newly promoted side, Wa All Stars the League leaders performing wonders with young talents. So in my view, there is quality in the local league who can at least be substitutes in the Black Stars.” Saanie emphasized.

Saanie Daara recently complained of excessive player exodus from Ghana, causing a decline in quality in the league but admits now that there is more to harness and develop in the local league for a later inclusion in the Black Stars.

Gawu qualified Dreams FC to the premiership- Communication Director.

Communications Director of Dreams FC, Henry Asante Twum has commended Eric Gawu for playing a starring role in the club’s qualifications to the Premiership.

The astute sports journalist attributed his side’s monstrous run to the top flight league solely to the individual contribution of their veteran attacker both on and off the pitch.

Dreams FC sealed their ticket to the 2016 season at the first time of asking in the second tier league.

Eric Gawu, who made his name whiles plying his trade in Kumasi with King Faisal, returned to the domestic scene after an unsuccessful stint in Europe.

The gargling centre forward has since led the lines superbly well for CK Akunnors dominant Dreams FC at the Kweiman park en route to their premiership status.

Asante Twum  aligned their progress to the leadership qualities of their experience forward who has inspired the playing staff in leaps and bounds.

He commended Gawu for the self disciplined nature and courteous approach to staff members.

Heny Asante told sports crusader, “Eric Gawu is still a very big player for us. He might not be as strong as he was in the years ago but he has been very useful to us. Eric Gawu is one of the reasons why we are in the Premier league today”.

On his contribution to the young players in the side, Henry heaped kind words on his veteran forward.

“He is a shining example to the young players. He is very disciplined, reports to training very early and uses himself as an example anytime he is with the players. He is our signing of the season as a club. We shall count on Gawu a lot whichever formation the coach chooses to play”.
