Injury Boast For Hearts Ahead Of WAFA Game

Accra Hearts of Oak have received an injury boast ahead of their next game in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) as they seek to win the competition for the first time in eight seasons.

Their lead striker Cosmos Dauda has returned to training ahead of a busy schedule to the conclusion of this season’s football league in Ghana.

Dauda, who has scored eight goals for the Phobians this season, trained with his colleagues on Monday after being injured in their GPL encounter with Sekondi Hasaacas at the Essipong Stadium in their Match-Day 20 encounter.

The Nigerian import has missed their last two GPL games against Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold SC, games the Phobians drew 1-1 in each.

He could be available for selection when Hearts trek to Sogakope to play WAFA on Saturday as the GPL resumes this weekend as they look to preserve their leadership of the table.

Hearts of Oak supporters wing based in the North America, the National Chapters Committee 10 yesterday presented in-form striker, Cosmos Dauda with an undisclosed motivating gift.

 

The former Tudu Mighty Jets striker has been in scintillating form since the commencement of the 2015/16 league season and in the match week 17 encounter against Liberty Professionals took his tally for the season to 7 in 17 league games. A representative of the Chapters executive committee was in Ghana and presented the lanky forward with his gift after the game at the Accra Sports Stadium.

 

And Dauda has taken to his official Facebook wall to acknowledge receipt of the present and also appreciate the morale boosting item.

Dauda will look to reward the North American fans immediately with a goal and win over arch rivals, Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Friday when Ghana’s two most successful football clubs reignite their rivalry in the 2016 President’s Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Accra Hearts of Oak striker Cosmos Dauda has said It was a momentous moment on Sunday at the Dormaa Park to slot home the much needed equalizer for his side in their 1-1 draw with Aduana Stars in their top-of-the-table clash.

The Hearts forward netted in the 66^th minute to record his fifth goal of the season as he helped the league leaders to earn a point which has kept them on top of the table.

But while Cosmos have gotten the plaudits for the strike, the young striker has expressed his gratitude to fellow striker Sam Yeboah for finding him out with an intelligent pass at the right time to slot home the equalizer.

He told the club’s official newspaper, the Hearts News that; “I was lucky to score from that close range. Sam Yeboah picked me out to perfection and I needed to do the best thing by scoring to keep the pressure on the opponent”.

“Winning would have been great but all the same a point gained is better than dropping all three points. If we had lost that would have been disastrous for us but once again we showed our collective strength which to me has always been paramount in our games,” he added.

“To me our biggest strength is our collective team work and if are able to retain that then we will surely make everyone happy at the end of the season”.

Cosmos says he does not want to take too much of the credit for the point earned.

“We were very solid in the game, especially in the second half which helped us a lot,” Cosmos added.

Accra Hearts of Oak have in their fold one of Ghana’s most entertaining and clinical finishers in the domestic game in Cosmos Dauda.

Dauda signed a three year deal from division one club, Prestige Academy in the 2015 season after impressing on trials with the Rainbow club.

The young striker known for his trickery and aerial threat at goal came with a high with fans expecting him of becoming an instant hit but adaptation to a new environment and the size of Hearts had a toll on him but, Dauda has been inspirational lately as the fans have stated singing his praise.

Nicknamed ‘Neymar’ after the Barcelona forward, Dauda has been a valuable addition to the Accra Hearts of Oak striking force with four goals in the nine game old Ghana Premier League.

Dauda ‘Policed’ by AshGold defenders but leaped to score his second goal against the Miners.

The 6ft striker has scored three goals in his last two games for Hearts and in this hot streak and fine vein of form will cause any defense problems and coming up against Kotoko, he will be motivated to prove that his form is no fluke and this, the defends men of Kotoko led by Ahmed Adams will have to keep an eye on else he might cause them trouble on Monday, May 2.

Problems stricken AshantiGold succumbed to a 2-1 loss against Hearts of Oak on Sunday.

And under-fire Coach Bashiru Hayford bemoaned his players loss of concentration in the game.

The Miners have had a zigzag start to the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League (GPL), season and pressure is mounting on the former Kotoko boss.

They needed to win over Hearts of Oak to re-affirm their desire of defending their league title. AshantiGold however got stunned by the Accra giants at the Len Clay Sports Stadium.

Cosmos Dauda scored twice for Hearts before Awudu Nafiu grabbed a consolation, but that wasn’t enough to earn AshGold anything out of the game.

“My boys played their hearts out but it was unfortunate they conceded two quick goals in the second half that made the difference.

“In football if you make a mistake, you are punished and if you don’t come out well you will be punished immediately. That is exactly what happened and I think we are going to prepare very well for the next game,” Hayford said after the game.

AshantiGold’s next league game is against Dwarfs at Cape Coast Sports Stadium at the weekend.

Cosmos Dauda Rues Missed Chances

Accra Hearts striker, Cosmos Dauda admits his side missed the chance to cement a firm grip on the top spot as they lost at home to Wa All Stars.

The Phobians suffered their first defeat at home and of the 2015/16 Ghana premier league season as they were humbled by Wa based by three goals to one.

Hearts were billed to win though it was not going to be an easy victory over the determined coach Enos Adipa led side.

And Dauda who was late first half substitute has taken to social media to acknowledge the missed opportunity and poor play from the side that has entertained many in this season.

Hearts of Oak promising striker, Cosmos Dauda has played down pressure claims.

The former Mighty Jets forward  joined the Phobians during the transfer window and he has been a revelation in the striking force of the team.

Cosmos Dauda has played all four of Hearts of Oak premier league matches so far this season – scoring one in their famous away win of the season against Medeama SC in Tarkwa.

The Phobians priority for the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League season is lift the league title, and that will mean Dauda must bang in the goals week in an out.

But he says he is only enjoying his football adding “At a point I was feeling the pressure but now no.

“We have a lot of coaches who talk to us both on and off the pitch; they watched our talents and work on it,” Cosmos Dauda told Joy FM.

He added that there’s no pressure because he has experienced around him.

“There is no pressure. I play around senior and experienced players and they give us the confidence.

“I don’t see where the pressure comes from. It will only come if you allow it to come. To me there is no pressure but I know the task ahead because it is a big club.” he said.

Accra Hearts of Oak are first on the league log with 10, and they will look to cushion their advantage when they travel to Tema on Sunday when the play Inter Allies.
