John Antwi Wins Egyptian Premier League With Ahly

Ghanaian forward John Antwi has landed himself the Egyptian top-flight winners medal with Al Ahly ahead of the final round of matches.

Ahly leads the log with 68 points, five clear of second place Zamalek with one game in hand over the chasing pack.

Zamalek dropped crucial points in their bid to force a photo finish in their final two laps of the domestic championship to end their hot chase on the leaders.

John Antwi and his Ahly colleagues will be crowned champions on May 13 when they host fifth place El Masry in the final match day of the season which will serve as a coronation match for the North African giants.

The Al Ahly centre forward has been sparingly used this season since his arrival from Al Shabab but a strong performance in the CAF Champions League qualifiers forced him back into first team action.

The Ghanaian import enjoyed a hugely successful tenure in the Egyptian League before leaving for Al Shabab at the start of the 2014/15 season.

A return of 19 goals in 35 appearances however convinced Ahly to enroll him into their roaster for the current campaign.
