Ibrahimovic Set For Man Utd Medical

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will undergo a medical with Manchester United next week ahead of a move to Old Trafford, according to Sky sources.

Ibrahimovic, who retired from international football following Sweden’s group stage exit at Euro 2016, will sign a one-year contract at United following the completion of his medical.

Personal terms on a one-year contract were agreed prior to Euro 2016 after negotiations between Ibrahimovic’s agent Mino Raiola and United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

The talks took longer than expected and a move could therefore not be completed before Euro 2016 began.

Sky Sports News HQ understand United do not expect any issues with the medical and the 34-year-old is said to be in excellent physical condition.

Ibrahimovic, all being well, will link up with Jose Mourinho for the second time in his career, having worked with the Portuguese during their time together at Inter Milan.

Sky sources also understand United are close to completing the signing of Armenia midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund after talks reached an advanced stage on Sunday.

Mourinho is attempting to shape his squad ahead of his first season at United and has already completed the signing of Ivory Coast defender Eric Bailly from Villarreal.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice in his final Paris St-Germain league appearance in a game which was briefly stopped for a standing ovation.

PSG’s all-time top scorer is leaving the club this summer and after 10 minutes the game with Nantes was halted while fans applauded their number 10.

By scoring twice, he broke another club record – for most goals by a PSG player in a league season, with 38.

He chested in an opener, and headed home to make it 4-0 late on.

His 89th-minute goal saw him overtake Carlos Bianchi’s 37-goal league haul of 1977-78.

The 34-year-old Swede has scored 154 goals in 179 appearances in his four years in France. Next Saturday’s French Cup final against Marseille will be his final game for the club.

PSG have won Ligue 1 in each season Ibrahimovic has been at the club, with the veteran – who has been linked with a move to LA Galaxy – winning the golden boot three times.

His 38 goals in 31 league games this season saw him finish 17 goals above second-placed Alexandre Lacazette of Lyon.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will leave Paris St-Germain at the end of the season.

The 34-year-old Sweden striker’s contract with the French champions expires in the summer, and he has been linked with Manchester United, Los Angeles Galaxy and AC Milan.

“I am very proud,” he said. “I came like a king, I leave like a legend but I will be back.”

PSG said Ibrahimovic leaves as “the greatest striker and one of the very best players in the club’s history”.

Ibrahimovic is the club’s record goalscorer despite only joining the club in 2012, his 152 goals coming in 178 appearances.

PSG have won Ligue 1 in every season Ibrahimovic has been at the club, wrapping up the title this season with two months to spare.

“I loved every day I spent here,” said Ibrahimovic, who has won league titles with six different clubs. “Paris St-Germain has become a star club in the world and I played a key role moving it forward. It is now the right time for me to take a different path.”

PSG host Nantes in Ligue 1 on Saturday before meeting Marseille in the French Cup final on 21 May.

An agreement is in place for Ibrahimovic to return to the club at the end of his playing career, with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi saying he is “looking forward to the prospect of working with him again”.

Ibrahimovic finished as top scorer in France in 2012-13 and 2013-14, and leads Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette by 15 goals this season.

He has also been included in the Ligue 1 team of the year in all of his four seasons in France.

Premier League Would Be “A Step Down” For Ibrahimovic - Thiago Silva

Brazil and Paris Saint Germain captain Thiago Silva says that Zlatan Ibrahimovic would be taking a step down if he were to leave PSG for the Premier League this summer.

The 34 year old is out of contract at the French club in July, with rumours percolating of a move to England.

However, teammate Silva, also a teammate of Zlatan’s at A.C. Milan, thinks the Swede would be better off staying in Paris, “He is my good friend, but also at 34 he is playing the best football of his career.

He is one of the best in the world, he is unique, there is not another player like him.

“Of course I want him to stay at PSG, I cannot imagine us without him. I know he has offers from England – and it is a big league – but I don’t think there is a team in England that is at the level of PSG at the moment. For me it would be a step down in quality for him.”

Manchester United are the club being linked with Ibrahimovic most regularly.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has told his Premier League suitors he has no intention of retiring anytime soon.

 

The Paris Saint Germain striker, who will lead the line for the French club against Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday night, is set to leave at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Ibrahimovic could prove an attractive proposition for an elite Premier League club next season, but at the age of 34, any move to England would surely be on a short-term basi

However, Ibrahimovic insists he feels as fresh as ever and has no plans to hang up his boots.

“I feel young, very young. Age is just a number,” said the Swede.

“People say I’m old, but I’m only warming up. My future is I have two months left on my contract and then I go to the Euros. After that there’s nothing, I’m not in discussions with any other club.”

 

Chelsea trail PSG 2-1 after the first-leg of their round of 16 tie. Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani netted for PSG, but John Obi Mikel scored an away goal for Chelsea in what is Guus Hiddink’s only defeat since being appointed interim manager in December 2015.
