Clottey Set For November Bout

Ghanaian professional boxer and former IBF Welterweight champion, Joshua ‘Hitman’ Clottey, has announced he will return to the ring in November 2016.

The 38-year-old has fought just once since 2015 after he defeated former Middleweight champion, Anthony Mundine in 2014 and this got many to question whether he was contemplating on retiring from the sport.

But the ‘Hitman’, in an interview with Starr FM, dispelled those rumours as he sets November this year for a return to the ring.

“I will be returning in November this year hopefully. I am still active and training. We will confirm the opponent soon.

“Everything is going on well. Ghanaians would soon see me in the ring. Many thought I have retired but I have been training all this while.”

Clottey’s boxing record stands at (39 Wins 5 Defeats and 22 TKOs).

Former International Boxing Federation (IBF) World Champion, Joshua Clottey has revealed to Sportscrusader.com about his short term plans in other to illuminate a blossom end to his glamorous boxing career.

The 38 year old who was defeated in his last bout against Gabriel Rosado in December in New York has reiterated the need to stay focused and never give up despite some heavy destructive criticism by a section of Ghanaian boxing fans who think he his best years are behind him.

In an interview with Sportscrusader.com ‘The Hitter’ as he is also known, said, “My objective right now is to get a very good fight, if the chance comes for me to take another shot at a World title,  I will be glad, I love it when I stand in the ring in the name of Ghana”.

Clottey also emphasized how he is working very hard in the gym to keep fit and stay ready for any competition that is thrown at him, he indicated  his readiness for his upcoming bout in June which is still to be confirmed.

Former International Boxing Federation (IBF) Welterweight champion Joshua Clottey has fired a warning shot at the current Middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez telling him to face him ‘man to man’ after he Canelo chickened out of a scheduled December, 2014 fight against Clottey citing injury.

Canelo (47-1-1, 33 KOs) exhibited a very impressive performance against Amir Khan (31-4, 19 KO’s) as he brutally knocked down the Briton in their bout at the  new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas to retain the middleweight strap in his first defense, six months after taking it from Miguel Cotto by unanimous a decision.

 

In an interview with Sportscrusader.com the Hitter as Clottey is also known, said, “I always wanted to fight Canelo, we signed the contract, everything was put in place for the big fight in December 2014, the news about him getting injured was very devastating”.

“I wanted to fight Canelo not because of the money, I was focused about ending his blossom start to his boxing career, but maybe he saw me as a threat that was why he pulled out,” he added.

Clottey also emphasized about his readiness to fight Canelo on any day when the opportunity arises but now he said, he is focused on his upcoming coming bout in June.

Exclusive : I Will Revenge If Given Second Chance With Pacquiao - Clottey

Former International Boxing Federation, (IBF), Welterweight Champion, Joshua ‘The Hitter’ Clottey has hinted Sportscrusader.com about how he will relish a second chance with the current World Boxing Organization (WBO) Welterweight Champion Manny Pacquiao in order for him to revenge the defeat he suffered to the Filipino in 2010.

Pacquiao (58-6-2) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in April put up an impressive performance as he knocked out Timothy Bradley in the seventh and ninth rounds which made him cruised to 116-110 scores on all three judges cards.

Even though Pacquiao is finally hanging up the gloves on his boxing career to focus on a political career in his native country where he holds a senate seat, Clottey still has hopes of taking his revenge against Pacquiao.

In an interview with the Sportscrusader.com The ‘Hitter’ said, “Pacquiao has always been a great boxer, he is a decorated boxer having won 10 world titles and being the first eight division world champion, I would love to revenge my defeat I suffered back in 2010, because of the numerous unfortunate circumstances that hindered my progress of winning that bout”.

The 38 year old boxer also added that he is vigorously training very hard with regards to his upcoming fight in June, and he is willing to bounce back as soon as possible.

Stop Bleaching! Concentrate On Boxing - Bukom Banku Warned

Ghanaian professional boxer and former International Boxing Federation (IBF) welterweight champion, Joshua Clottey has cautioned Braimah Kamoko, alias, ‘Bukom Banku’ to concentrate on the sport of boxing and stop the unnecessary attention he seeks for himself.

Banku has made the headlines for all the negative reasons lately as pictures of him bleaching his dark skin had emerged on social media.

But the tough speaking Banku has refuted claims that he is bleaching but rather enjoying the good life and is not bothered by talks as he is focused on helping President John Dramani Mahama retain his seat as the Head of State of Ghana.

But Clottey (39-5, 22 KOs) who has enjoyed living in the limelight of boxing has offered a piece of advice to the Bukom based boxer.

He said, “Banku has to concentrate on the sport of boxing as it is the reason why people know him and has made him popularly. I believe he has the ability to fight and become a famous and rich boxer as he dreams of but I don’t understand why he does not take the sport serious”.

“My advice to him is to take boxing serious because he owes his fame to the sport, fans and Ghana as a nation,” he added.
