Lartey Supports Ashgold

Ghana Youth international Lawrence Lartey donated assorted items to his former side ahead of their trip to Algeria to play OM Bejaia in the second leg of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Champions League.

The former Miners centre back donated winter jackets, back packs, and other training equipments to fine tune their preparations for the return leg of their CAF Champions league clash in Algeria.

The 21 year old centre back played a starring role for Coach Bashiru Hayford side before joining the exodus bus to South Africa for PSL side Ajax Cape Town.

The 2014/15 FCPPL defender of the season donated the items to his former side to motivate them to fight for a place in the next round of Africa’s greatest club competition after a first leg.

The items include 30 winter jackets, 30 back packs and other assorted equipments meant to alleviate their trip to Algeria for the crucial return leg against OM Bejaia with a 1- 0 lead to defend.

Lartey has since played eight matches for Ajax Cape Town side before picking up a red card for the PSL side over the weekend.

Ghana Youth international Lawrence Lartey made his long awaited debut for Ajax Cape Town away to Golden Arrows in the South African Premiership.

The 21 year old defender lasted the entire 90 minutes for Ajax as they snatched a well deserved point on the road.

Lartey sealed his dream move to the SPL after leading Ashgold to their first title in almost two decades.

The former Miners defender impressed his new paymasters with his unique reading of the game away to the high flying Arrows.

The 2014/15 FCPPL defender of the season defied the teaming crowd and intimidation from the visitors to unleash his defensive armories on his debut match.

Andile Eugene shot Arrows into an 18th minute lead from the spot only for Frankline Cale to draw parity two minutes later. Arrows missed the chance to join the top four whiles Ajax moves three clear from the drop in the SPL.

Lartey"s addition is massive for Ajax - coach De Sa

Ajax Cape Town coach Roger De Sa remains excited by the capture of Ghanaian defender Lawrence Lartey who he considers a massive addition to his squad.

Ajax ended a two-year chase for the former AshantiGold captain by signing him to a contract last month.

Lartey, despite being young, comes in with immense experience having captain Ghana’s U20 team to the World Cup.

And coach Roger De Sa feels landing the former AshGold man is a big plus for his side going forward.

“It’s taken two years really, but we are glad to have him,” he said.

“I think he’s a massive addition to our team.

“He comes in in an area where we probably do need cover and he’s got the experience to take us into Africa next year as well, which we need.”

Lartey led AshantiGold to win their first Premier League title close to two-decades last season.
