Christian Gourcuff Part Ways With Algeria

Experienced French trainer Christian Gourcuff has mutually ended his association with the Desert Foxes amidst media pressure.

The 60 year old much travelled tactician joined the Desert Foxes right after the 2014 FIFA and has since transformed the North Africans into one of the revered nations on the continent.

The former France international led Algeria to an unbeaten run in the 2015 AFCON qualification journey before leaving the tourney at the quarter final stages.

The ex Lorient Boss then confirmed his managerial class with another strong performance in the ongoing 2017 AFCON qualifiers that has seen the rampant Foxes pocketing 10 points from the opening four games the 10-4 aggregate win over Ethiopia.

It is unclear as to why the ace trainer parted ways with his North African paymasters but media unrest and a blind on home based talented has been heard from within the corridors of the Foxes.

The Hanvee born respected tactician could however remain in the continent with interests from a number of rivals on the continent.

Ghana Premier League side Ashanti Gold left Accra on Thursday night to Algeria for the second leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary qualifier against M. O Bejaia.

The Ghanaian champions touched down to a heroic welcome by the Algerian football fans and media. 

The Miners are expected to train at the Stade de Algerie 24 hours prior to kick off, which is 1700 GMT

Lartey Supports Ashgold

Ghana Youth international Lawrence Lartey donated assorted items to his former side ahead of their trip to Algeria to play OM Bejaia in the second leg of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Champions League.

The former Miners centre back donated winter jackets, back packs, and other training equipments to fine tune their preparations for the return leg of their CAF Champions league clash in Algeria.

The 21 year old centre back played a starring role for Coach Bashiru Hayford side before joining the exodus bus to South Africa for PSL side Ajax Cape Town.

The 2014/15 FCPPL defender of the season donated the items to his former side to motivate them to fight for a place in the next round of Africa’s greatest club competition after a first leg.

The items include 30 winter jackets, 30 back packs and other assorted equipments meant to alleviate their trip to Algeria for the crucial return leg against OM Bejaia with a 1- 0 lead to defend.

Lartey has since played eight matches for Ajax Cape Town side before picking up a red card for the PSL side over the weekend.

Mo Bejaia Name Squad To Face AshGold

AshantiGold’s CAF Champions League preliminary round opponent, MO Bejaia has named a 2022-man playing body for the first leg of the competition at the Len Clay stadium.

The Algerians will fly out of Algeria on Thursday with a 35-man contingent evening and are expected to arrive in Ghana at 5 : 15 GMT.

The club will play a friendly against Moroccan club MOBiste Casablanca on Thursday afternoon before embarking on the trip.

The Head of the MO Bejaia delegation is the club’s General Secretary Omar Abdelkaoui.

MO Bejaia will check into the Golden Tulip Hotel in Kumasi on Friday after arriving in Accra.

The Crabs will be transported to Obuasi on Saturday to hold another workout session at the Len Clay before the mandatory technical meeting with the match officials.

The Premier League Board on behalf of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) wishes to express its profound support to Premier League Champions, Ashantigold in their African campaign this season.

As our champion club kick off their CAF Champions League campaign against M.O. Bejaia of Algeria this weekend, the GFA is of the belief that Ashantigold will scale this intial hurdle and go very far in the competition.

Th current Ashantigold team has history to look up to for motivation ib the competition, as the club is a pioneer of the CAF Champions League and the first Ghanaian club to play in a grande finale of the competition in 1997.

The GFA urges Ashantigold to emulate the resilience of that historic squad to restore Ghana’s pride in the competition.

The senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars has dropped eight (8) in the latest FIFA Coca-Cola rankings for the month of January 2016.

The Black Stars who had 779 points and were ranked 33rd in the world slipped 8 places after recording 691.42 points in the latest rankings and now occupy the 41st position.

However, the Black Stars are still fourth in the continent as there were no changes.

Africa champions Cote d’Ivoire is still on the summit, followed by Cape Verde islands and Algeria.

Top 5 teams in Africa.

Ivory Coast,Cape Verde Islands, Algeria, Ghana and Senegal.

There were no changes in the top five, with Belgium leading the way followed by Argentina, Spain, Germany and Chile.
