My GHALCA Administration Will Not Be Stagnant - Oduro Sarfo

Ghana League Clubs Association Chairman hopeful, Nana Oduro Sarfo gas described the association as stagnant body and has promised to make it a viable economic welfare body if given the opportunity.

GHALCA will go to congress on Tuesday February 16 to fixed a date for their elections scheduled for April and he believes he has the ideas to transform GHALCA from its current state into a body every entity will want to be associated with.

He believes GHALCA of today do not think outside the box and he will change that when he delegates give him the mandate.

“GHALCA is the mother of all league clubs in the country — Division two to the premier league and those at the forefront must always think outside the box to meet the demands of the association, but is like the current GHALCA administration is always in the box and cannot move out of the box,” the former Chief Executive Officer of Berekum Chelsea told sportscrusader.com.

“If I am given the nod, in my administration, I will not be a stagnant GHALCA,” he added.

Nana Oduro Sarfo intends to liaise with other West Africa neighbours with clubs bodies to form an association he believes will be bigger than CAF.

He also revealed that government owes the body huge sums of money and he will do all he can to avoid that in his administration. His first game as chairman of the association will be played at the Baba Yara sports stadium.

“I am thinking of playing my first president cup at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Kumasi.

“We have played three president cup matches at the Accra Sports Stadium and anytime we finish the government owes us. The government has always been with the excuse that if people don’t throng to the venue of the match, it will be bad for the government, but they will end up not paying us.

“Government owes us huge sums of money. We are owed about GHS 47,000  and it will not happen under my administration,” he stated.

Nana Oduro Sarfo will battle for the chairmanship position with Cudjoe Fianoo, Chief executive officer of Ashanti Gold, Alhaji Raji, incumbent Chairman of the association, Isaac Koomson, vice chairman of the association and Kofi Poku formerly of B.A United.

The fourth edition of the Afrcia Nations Championship (CHAN), a unique senior national team tournament for home-based players kicks off in Rwanda today (Saturday) in Kigali.

Players eligible for this competition must be a native by birth or adoption and ply their trade in their country.

The tournament matches are recognised by FIFA as full internationals with results counting toward the monthly Coca-Cola FIFA rankings.

The Confedrration of Africa Football inaugurated the idea to provide competitive tournaments for local base players and provide national team experience as most national teams in the continent has been monopolized by players who ply their trade abroad.

Labelled the ‘baby brother’ of the Africa Cup of Nations, the CHAN has the same format with 15 qualifiers and the hosts split into four groups from which winners and runners-up advance to the quarter-finals.

The home-only rule will have little effect on finalists like Rwanda and Ethiopia, the bulk of whose leading footballers perform in the domestic championships.

But the Nigeria and Ivory Coast CHAN squads bares no resemblance to the sides which won the Cup of Nations in South Africa and Equitorial Guinea respectively.

Tunisia and Nigeria (who placed 4th in last edition in South Africa) are the first and second seeds in Group C and are tipped to sail through the group with success.

Guinea are debutants whilst Niger who makes up the group are in the tournament for the second time.

Host Rwanda had no favours as they were housed alongside Gabon, Ivory Coast and Morocco the strong Group A.

Democratic Republic of Congo, winners of the maiden CHAN tournament against Ghana in Abidjan seven years ago, and Cameroon look the strongest sides in Group B, which is completed by Angola and Ethiopia. Angola are known for quality home talents playing while Ethiopia showed the continent what their league is made up off during the 2013 Africa Cup of nations in South Africa.

Mali, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe make up Group D.

Zambia have chosen midfielder Isaac Chansa and striker Christopher Katongo, pivotal figures in the team that mocked the form book by winning the 2012 Cup of Nations.

Recalled after two years in the international wilderness, the veterans said they were ‘humbled by the call-ups and the confidence shown in their abilities.’

Rwanda and Ivory Coast will open the floodgates at 15:00 GMT before Gabon and Morocco lock horns in the second Group A game at 18:00 GMT.

WAFU Zone B Have Become Pacesetters Under Nyantakyi - Nigeria FA Prez

The president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr Amaju Melvin Pinnick, has commended WAFU Zone B boss Kwesi Nyantakyi for his consistency in leadership.

Mr Nyantakyi was re-elected president of the association yesterday, beating Djibrilla Hima Hamidou from Niger narrowly.

And Mr. Pinnick says his leadership had made it possible for the zone to become pacesetters on the continent over the years, thus, delegates reposed their confidence in him to continue his work for the body.

“WAFU Zone B currently leads in Africa in terms of honours in continental competitions and choosing him again will help build our brand to a higher level based on our previous successes,” Pinnick is quoted by Daily Graphic.

“In this election there is no victor and there is no vanquished because we are one people and we are going to remain very united because we know that this is the future of African football,” he added.

Delegates from the seven member countries; namely Nigeria, Niger, Benin, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Burkina Faso and Nigeria were in Accra yesterday for the congress held at the Movenpick Hotel.

Nyantakyi pulled four votes out of the total votes cast.

West Africa Football Union president, Kwesi Nyantakyi says he is like a ‘dead goat’ when it comes to elections.

The Ghana Football Association was re-elected president of WAFU Zone B in a fiercely contested election on Tuesday in Accra.

Nyantakyi beat Niger’s Djibrilla Hamidu by one vote in a close victory after, and after which the CAF executive committee claim he is does not fear running in any elections.

Kwesi Nyantakyi has won several elections ranging from local level which includes GHALCA, GFA, WAFU to CAF.

The Lawyer and Banker who has been the first citizen of Ghana football for the past decade retained his position as the Ghana FA President in August 2015 unopposed.

The Wa All Stars bankroller was also re-elected to serve on Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) Executive Committee for another four-year term in office in April 2015 unopposed.

However at the WAFU Zone B elections, Nyantakyi was closely matched.

But he says he has adopted His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama’s ‘dead goat syndrome’ during elections.

“I am like a dead goat when it comes to elections,” Kwesi Nyantakyi told the media in Accra on Tuesday after winning the elections.

“I don’t fear elections. I have gone through several elections from GHALCA to GFA to CAF etc,” elated Nyantakyi added.

WAFU U17 Will Go On As Planned After Ebola Scare – Kwesi Nyantakyi

The president of the West African Football Union – WAFU, Kwesi Nyantakyi has confirmed this year wafu u17 tourney will go on as planned.

 

 

The event which was scheduled for last year did not see day light due to the ebola virus that hit sub region hard and took away human lives.

 

Nyantakyi was speaking at the ongoing West African Football Union’s Congress at the Movenpick Hotel.

 

He said, “Burkina Faso Will remain as host of this year’s wafu u17 tournament.

The tournament was called off due to the ebola epidemic last year but the Burkina Football federation has confirmed it’s readiness to host the juvenile competition which will be the first organised in the sub-region, ” He added.

Kwesi Nyantakyi Favourite To Win WAFU Elections - Saani Daara

Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Saani Daara is optimistic his boss Nyantakyi is the overwhelming favourite to win the West Africa Football Union president for the fourth term in today’s congress.

The West Africa Football Union, WAFU delegates will assemble at the Movenpick Hotel, Accra on Tuesday to choose a leader for the Union.

Kwesi Nyantakyi, the incumbent president is seeking re-election and will contest Djibril Hamidu from Niger for the driving seat to steer the affairs of the Zone B football.

But Saani Daara is optimistic of a Landslide victory for Kwesi Nyantakyi.

“I think Kwesi Nyantakyi is the overwhelming favourite for the position. If there’s any candidate who will not vote for Kwasi Nyantakyi perhaps will be from Niger,” Saani Daara told Joy FM.

“Over the past years, the facts are key to his success in the upcoming elections. The fact is that for the past year for the first time in its history WAFU is been able to have a television deal, they have competitions going on every year.

“Last year, the trouble in Burkina Faso prevented their U-17 tournament from being held which. And it clear shows that under Nyantakyi, WAFU has made a lot of progress.” He noted.

Three of FIFA presidential hopefuls Prince Ali Al-Hussein, Gianni Infantino, and Sheikh Salman Bin Al Khelifa will grace the elections to explain their plans for football.
