Aduana Stars talented youngster, Sampson Boampong Wirekoh couldn’t hide his excitement with his call-up to the camp of the national under-20 side.

 

The tricky-winger who side for the premier league club from Windy Professionals during the transfer window, was in the 40-players called up players for the Black Satellites team that will camp at Prampram in readiness for the first phase of preparations for upcoming assignments.

Boampong known in football circles as ‘Dorma Polo’ due to his resemblance to former Hearts of Oak legend, Mohammed Polo, expressed his joy at the invitation, an action he stressed will go a long way to boost his confidence.

 

 

The youngster said, “It is every player’s dream to play for the national team at any level and I am happy that I have this opportunity and I know it will motivate me the more to give off my best at all times”.

"Dormaa Polo" Will Be Our Secret Weapon"-Aduana Stars

The 2015/16 football season has not yet commenced, but already Clubs have started plotting how to win maximum points against any opponent they might come across on the field of play.

One of such teams is former league champions Aduana Stars, who have in their fold a very young and talented midfielder known among the township as ‘Dormaa Polo’.

The player, 15 years of age was roped into the Aduana Stars team during the offseason from Division One side, Windy Professionals and according to the Club’s CEO Albert Commey Ayittey, has been a menace to even his own colleagues in defence.

“For us we are still in training and waiting to commence the season and so far everything is going on well. We are content with what we have so far as a team and the coaches are working on them”.

“My joy is that we have in our midst a very talented young chap who goes by the name ‘Dormaa Polo’ after the legendary Hearts of Oak and Black Stars player Mohammed Polo.”

“This is a player who can change the game positively anytime he is on the pitch be it starting or from the bench. The first time I heard his name I said to myself I don’t believe he is that good, but after a couple of training sessions and matches I understood the real meaning of that name ‘Polo’,” the confident Albert Commey said.

“His real name is Sampson Boampong Mireku and he was poached at the age of ten and I tell you he is a very good player. He has what we call mechanical speed and he is very fast with the ball.”

He recently returned from injury because his own colleagues thought he was disgracing them too much at training and dealt with him, but that is one of those things”.

“I can say that he will be our secret weapon in the coming season and it is my prayer that he will b able to adapt to the rigorous nature of the Premier League.”

Football fans especially those of Aduana Stars will see the young lad in action for the Dormaa based Club in the G-6 Invitational Tournament which kick starts on Thursday 7th January 2016 at the Essipong stadium.
