Ayew Relishes The Pain of The Minimal Support From Ghanaian Fans

Interim captain of the senior national team, Andre Dede Ayew has expressed his pain towards the lack of zeal in terms of support from majority of Ghanaian whenever the Black Stars play in Ghana. Ghana in its last home game against Mozambique had one of the worst attendances ever recorded with approximately 1500 fans attending the match out of 40,000 capacity of the Accra Sports Stadium.  

In a post training interview with media on Thursday, Ayew said; “the past year and a half has been difficult with our fans we have to be honest, and for me as a leader is very painful together with other leaders as well as my colleagues”.  

“As you all saw the last match against Mozambique, there was poor attendance, but the stadium was full when i watched Hearts play Kotoko at this same venue and i must say it is painful, Ghanaians  always want us to win and we have being winning games and we still don’t feel support due to issues that might be true or  false”.  

He also pleaded to fans to try as much as possible to put things behind them because they need them at this crucial moment especially through prayers and they are confident of coming out successful.

PLB Set Date For 2nd Registration Transfer Window

The Premier League Board (PLB) has set Monday May 2, 2016 as the date for the opening of the 2nd Registration period for the ongoing 2015/16 Ghana Premier League.

 

The second transfer window would be opened for a one-month period as it would be closed on Wednesday June 1, 2016.

 

All Premier League Clubs are to take note for compliance.

Assifuah And Duncan Start For Ghana Against Mozambique

Coach Avram Grant has named FC Sion striker, Ebenezer Assifuah and Sassuolo versatile player, Alfred Duncan in the Black Stars game against OS Mambas of Mozambique.

The duo missed the first leg clash at the Accra Sports Stadium and will look forward to an impressive and convincing performance to at least retain a place in the final squad for the tournament in Gabon next year.

These are the men to do battle

Razak Braimah keeps his place goal and it’s an unchanged back four – Harrison Afful, Jonathan Mensah, John Boye and Baba Rahman.

In midfield, Afriyie Acquah, Agyemang Badu and Alfred Duncan whilst the attack has Jeffery Schlupp, Jordan Ayew and Ebenezer Assifuah.

Ghana Black Stars trained on the Estádio do Zimpeto stadium pitch ahead of the return leg clash against Mozambique.

OS Mambas of Mozambique have a daunting task of winning the second the leg to have any chance of qualifying for the African Cup of Nations 2017 in Gabon after no win in three matches.

Coach Avram Grant led the Stars along with his assistant, Maxwell Konadu through an intensed training routine as they take a step closer to the final tournament.

Mozambique Defiant In Defeat

Head coach of Mozambique, Abel Xavier has praised his teams attitude and devotion in their 3-1 loss to the Black Stars of Ghana.

OS Mambas needed at least a draw to keep any hope of qualifying for next year’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament alive, but, ended out in defeat and will most certainly miss out on the event to be held in Gabon.

The Black Stars with a hundred per cent record started in the qualifiers, the game well very though the performance was below expectation, but, yet recorded a valuable win to keep form hold of top spot in Group H.

But Xavier believes the performance of his boys deserves proper recognition and hope to improve on that in subsequent matches.

Speaking to the media during his post match interview, the ex-Middlesbrough defender said, “Our play in the second half was a very improved performance and that made me proud of my players, their attitude and reaction to score a goal after conceding three goalswas fantastic,” he said.

“My players have dignified me, themselves and most importantly our country (Mozambique),” he added.

The return leg of this fixture is on Sunday 27 March in Maputo.

The Mambas of Mozambique held their first training at the Accra Sports Stadium ahead of the African Cup of Nations 2017 qualifier (AFCON) against the Black Stars of Ghana.

 

The Mambas were put the warm-up drills and some technical tactics by former Liverpool midfielder and head coach Abel Xavier.

Mozambique will look to cause an upset in the game that has seen them being made outside favourites to win the game even with the presence of danger men – striker, Helder Pelembe who plays for Bloemfontein and midfielder, Simao Mate of Levante in the la liga.

AESL Blamed For Accra Sports Stadium Renovation Delay

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuije has revealed that a delayed report from the county’s engineering experts, Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL) on the extent of damage at the Accra Stadium is the cause of the delay in the renovation of the edifice.

The 40,000-seater stadium has not been rehabilitated since its construction in 2007, leaving the edifice with rusted metallic structures and cracked walls making it a death trap.

In its current state, the Accra Sports Stadium is expected to record a high turnout for Thursday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mozambique which has raised some public panic ahead of the game.

But the Sports Minister in an interview with Starr FM in Accra revealed that he has made a suggestion to close part of the stadium for the Black Stars game.

“I made a suggestion that if we have to close that part of the stadium so that we can use the much more secured place we should do it because what is more important is life,” Mr. Vanderpuije said.

“If we have to do it, then it means we have the funding or resources for it. It is not something we have considered. We are still waiting for evaluation of the professionals like AESL. They have to look at the integrity of the stadium and advise us,” he added.

Meanwhile SportsCrusader understands that there is an emergency security meeting currently going on to analyse the situation ahead of the game on Thursday.

Ghana Black Stars coach, Avram Grant met the press earlier today prior to overseeing the teams day two training as they prepare for the AFCON 2017 qualifier against the Mambas of Mozambique.

The soft-spoken Israeli came to the conference in the company of the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The Ghanaian press were heavily represented as well as the international media notably, Voice of America (VOA).

Black Stars head coach, Avram Grant met the press Tuesday at the Media Center of the Accra Sports Stadium.

The former Chelsea boss will hope to guide Ghana to a fifth and a first African Cup of Nations Cup (AFCON) since 1982 and speaking ahead of the game, the Israeli admitted missing the services of Swansea City forward, Dede Ayew as a worry but has equally good replacement for the deputy Black Stars captain.
