Kevin-Prince Boateng Scores For AC Milan In 2-0 Victory Over Fiorentina

Ghanaian international Kevin-Prince scored for AC Milan  as they climbed up to sixth in the Serie A table courtesy of a 2-0 win over Fiorentina at the San Siro on Sunday evening.

Goals at opposite ends of the match were enough to hand Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side just their third win in their last nine league games and prevent Fiorentina from moving into the Champions League places.

The match was just four minutes old when the hosts opened the scoring as Carlos Bacca picked the ball up in space down the left before cutting inside and burying a clinical finish into the far bottom corner past Ciprian Tatarusanu.

The rest of the half did not follow in a similar vein as both sides struggled to create meaningful chances, with Fiorentina having to wait until 10 minutes into the second half for their first clear sight of goal.

It fell to Nikola Kalinic, but he fluffed his lines when well placed and sent his effort comfortably wide of the target. A second goal looked as though it might be enough for Milan, and they almost got it shortly after the hour mark when Luca Antonelli collected the ball inside the area but could only fire straight at the keeper.

The hosts did beat the keeper once again shortly afterwards, but this time, the woodwork came to Fiorentina’s rescue as M’Baye Niang was denied by the left upright from close range.

Milan did eventually kill the game off with just two minutes left, however, as Kevin-Prince Boateng pounced on a defensive error to double his side’s advantage and seal a first home league victory since November.

AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi hits out at fan for questioning return of Kevin-Prince Boateng

AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has defended the club’s signing of midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng, insisting he is at least better than boo-boy Alesio Cerci.

Boateng has been handed a short-term contract to make a return to the Rossoneri in his latest attempt to revive his career.

The Ghanaian quit Milan for Schalke three years ago when he was on top of his game.

But with depreciated form and disciplinary issues, Milan fans are divided on whether the return of the ex Portsmouth forward was the right decision.

One of such skeptical fans asked club owner Silvio Berlusconi whether Boateng’s return was prudent.

Berlusconi’s replied by pointing out to some under-performing players at the club despite his huge investment at the start of the season.

“Don’t you think he is better than Cerci?” he quizzed the fan.

“Zapata useless. Don’t tell me.

“I spent €150m this year but I don’t know when we’ll return to win, wouldn’t you be angry?”

Berlusconi’s response is gaining currency in the Italian media with many considering his comments as overly harsh meant to distract attention from the main issue of the prudency of Boateng’s return.

Alessio Cerci has meanwhile endured a difficult spell since joining Milan at the start of the season on loan from Atletico Madrid.

He has often been booed by Milan fans for his several below-par performances.
