Rabiu Joins Anzhi Makhachkala

Ghanaian international midfielder, Rabiu Mohammed has joined Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala from relegated Kuban Kransnodar, according to reports.

The 26-year old former Evian Thonon-Gilard  Midfield anchorman signed a three-and-a-half year deal on Monday.

The deal was completed in Austria where the Russian club are currently having their pre-season training and Rabiu will now team up with compatriot Jonathan Mensah who joined Anzhi earlier in the year.

The hard tackling midfielder will however have to wait for a little longer to make his debut as he is at present nursing an anterior cruciate ligament injury which he suffered in May.

Baring any setback in his recovery, Rabiu is expected to return to action in November this year.

Black Stars Midfielder Donates To Liberty Youth FC

In his quest to encourage young players to take football serious, Ghanaian international Rabiu Mohammed, on Monday donated training items to Dansoman Liberty Youth Football Club.

The items include a set of training bibs and three Brazuca footballs.

The donation signifies the Black Stars midfielder’s long standing relationship with the three-year old club which was founded by former Liberty Professionals Skipper Wahid Mohammed.

Receiving the items on behalf of the team, Founder and Head Coach, Wahid Mohammed expressed delight at gesture.

“On behalf of the team, I will like to thanks Rabiu Mohammed for the donation”, the Liberty Youth FC trainer told SportsCrusader.com.

“This is not the first time he’s done this. He has been doing things for the club under ground and for me personally.

“This items has come at a time we need them the most. The balls especially are of real quality”, Wahid added.

Rabiu Mohammed is currently recovering from an injury which ruled him out of the Black Stars AFCON 2017 penultimate qualifier against Mauritius last week.

Ghana midfielder Rabui Mohammed would be out for six months after undergoing surgery on his knee.

After going under the knife in Germany this week, the Kuban Krasnodar midfielder has had an earlier diagnonis confirmed.

Tests at the time had that the 26-year-old had a gap between the interior cruciate ligaments in his right knee and damaged the internal meniscus.

This cruciate knee ligament injury will mean he is out of the last two games of Ghana’s 2017 Nations Cup qualifiers against Mauritius and Rwanda.

Six months out also means he may struggle to hit form in time for Ghana’s likely charge to an Afcon title in Gabon next January. Rabiu had picked up the injury in Krasnodar’s league game against Rostov.

Rabiu has been start-stop since making a move to Russia in 2013 from Evian in France in a move worth about ‎€3 million.

He suffered the injury in mid-April when his side played Rostov.
