Duncan’s Appointment Was A Mistake- Osei Palmer

President of Division One League side, Tema Youth and Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Winfred Osei Palmer has stated that, Asante Kotoko made a mistake right from the start by appointing David Duncan as the coach of the club.

Duncan was appointed head coach of Kotoko amidst pump and pageantry in the course of last season after the club, had parted ways with Didi Dramani following a string of poor results.

The former Hearts of Oak trainer, despite the club’s poor start managed to steer them to second place finish behind eventual champions Ashanti Gold SC.

The 52-year old trainer however failed to replicate the performance of last season and started the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League with just a single win in six game, which prompted the Management of the Porcupine Warriors to ask him to Step aside following a 1-0 defeat at Aduana Stars on Match Week six.

The former Ghana Premier League Champions, began life after Duncan, on a good note last Sunday by defeating Liberty Professionals 3-1 at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi.

Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, Mr. Wilfred Osei Palmer noted that David Duncan and Kotoko were a mis-match from the beginning

“Duncan was not the right coach for Kotoko, he had it all wrong from the very start,” Osei Palmer said.

“The timing of Duncan when he assumed the position at Kotoko was wrong, especially looking at the circumstances Kotoko parted ways with Didi Dramani.

“Duncan has never been accepted by Kotoko as one of their kind so it is a marriage of suspicion, his loyalty to the club has always been questionable.

“Most of the Kotoko guys have never liked that idea of bringing him to Kotoko so i think that marriage shouldn’t have happened at all.” He added.

Tema youth protested against Dreams FC for fielding an unqualified player, but the FA Executive Committee member was certained nothing will change at the club, regardless of whatever decision is taken at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Kurt said: “Nothing will change should the decision go against us. But I assure you, we will play in the Premier League.”

He explained: “We were not in the premier league when we developed the likes of Baba Rahman, Benjamin Tetteh and John Antwi,

so, we will be fine if the decision goes against us, but I assure you, we will play in the Premier League”.

On the other hand, CEO of Tema Youth, Osei Palmer, has said Dreams FC should suffer the wrath of the football laws and not the player in question: Cudjoe Mensah/Daniel Gozar (allegedly registered for two clubs in two different league divisions of the Ghana Football Association).
