GFA, Sports Minister Rift Shifts Gear

Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Saani Darra, has said the association will push Ghana’s Youth and Sports Minister to name the official who requested him (Minister) to bend the rules for the Black Satellites.

Youth and Sports Minister, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, in a radio interview, made a claim that, “an official of the football association made approaches for certain things to be done but I declined”.

And this submission has got Saani worried, consequently requesting the minister to name and shame that individual as his allegation is highly damaging.

Speaking on a Joy FM sports show, Saani said; “the last thing we heard, he [Sports Minister] said someone [from the GFA] demanded some special favours from him before the Black Satellites game against Senegal.

“We are not taking this lightly, as such allegations are damaging and as such, will request the minister to name the official.

“We will, during the next executive meeting, raise the issue after gathering all the points he has raised,” he added.

This is no news, as lately, the relationship between the GFA and the Sports Ministry has turned sour.

Nii Lantey Talks Too Much - Saani Darra

Ghana Football Association (GFA) communication director, Saani Darra has said Youth and Sports Minister, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has lost all respect due to his attitude.

The once active Sports journalist has been bullish since his appointment as Sports Minister.

Notably, his famous position on the Black Stars’ winning bonus, which has become a major topic for discussion in the nation after the players’ poor and disgraceful showing at the World Cup 2014 in Brazil.

Speaking in a radio interview with Boss FM, the former BBC Sports journalist said, “truth be said, the Sports Minister (Nii Lantey Vanderpuye) has lost every bit of respect due to too much talking and his demeanor.

“There’s a lot he has said about the GFA that we could have responded but we (GFA) have decided not to,” he added.

Sports Ministry Lied - Saani Darra

The Sports Ministry “lied” about not knowing the local Black Stars were scheduled to play Japan in an international friendly match, according to the Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The Ministry of Youth and Sports, in a leaked official letter, accused the GFA of neglecting them in the administrative running of the national teams, notably the Black Stars.

The letter also warned the FA to put up “better behaviour” going forward, lest experience the wrath of the Ministry in any future act(s) of negligence.

Saani, in a radio interview with Kumasi-based Boss FM, denied the ministry’s claims of having no fore knowledge of the game (against Japan).

“The Sports Ministry’s claim of not knowing about the friendly game against Japan some months ago is untrue. We had a meeting about preparations prior to the game.”

“The minister (Nii Lantey Vanderpuye), during the meeting, asked coach Avram Grant to travel along with the team and help with his technical advice,” he added.

GFA Calls For Talk On Stars Bonus

The Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Saani Darra has called for a dialogue with the Ministry of Youth and Sports on the much-talked about, Black Stars bonus.

The GFA has been bashed for being the brain behind the huge sum of winning and appearance bonuses given the players and this arguably went off the roof when it brought shame to the nation during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Newly appointed sports minister, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye has been very vocal on the bonus topic and has mentioned that the ministry will slap the 10,000 USD the stars receive as it doesn’t make economic sense.

But Saani has called on the ministry to call for a stake holders meeting with the players to have a agreement on the matter.

He said, “let us not get into a situation where there will be stand-off. We want to get into a consensus and get into an arrangement with the players.”

“Let’s sit and talk with the players and reach on a consensus so when we take a decision it won’t be perceived as an imposition but a uniformly agreed decision,” he added.

Blame GFA For Grants Behaviour - Takyi Arhin

Chief Executive Officer Berlin FC and controversial football administrator, Takyi Arhin has accused the Ghana Football Association (GFA) of being responsible for the lackadaisical attitude Black Stars head coach, Avram Grant.

The former Chelsea boss has been out of the country for the past three months without the permission of his employers (GFA) but claims he’s monitoring Ghanaian players abroad meanwhile he has been a match day

pundit on Sky sports in the UK previewing and reviewing English premier league games.

The former Chairman of Sunyani based BA United, known for expressing his candid view has called on all Ghanaians to point fingers at the GFA for Avram Grant’s rude and unimportant attachment he has towards the Black Stars job.

“A parent who refuses to correct an insubordinate child will one day bare the wrath of the spoilt child and that is exactly what the GFA are currently experiencing with Avram Grant. The communications director of the GFA, Saani Darra has been defending the coach when the media question his where-about and today they turn to order him, he told Kumasi bossed, Boss FM.

“In this 21st century which coach travels to monitor players abroad when he can do it in the comfort of his chair so please the GFA can spare us those excuses. We (Ghanaians) appointed Grant as head coach of the senior national

team, pay him a whooping USD50,000, rent him a hotel, travel along with the wife on business class tickets and this why some of us have argued why his contract was not made public,” he added.

Revelation: Some Journalists Are On The Payroll Of the GFA - Alhaji Gedo

Nyantakyi Is Paying Some Journalists And…

Alhaji Ahmed Gedo has lashed in on some journalist who he believes are in bed with the Ghana football association and as a result a contributing to the decline of game.

The Amidaus professional president alleges the current state of Ghana as it battles with legal issues, sponsorship and marketing is not solely the fault of the GFA but also some sports journalist who have failed to seek accountability from the administrators of football here in Ghana.

The GFA has come under huge bashing and criticism from notable sports journalist and skeptics alike who have fingered the Kwesi Nyantakyi led GFA for the fall from grace to grass of the local league that has seen fans prefer watching European league games on television than visiting league centres to watch Ghana premier league games.

In an interview with Kumasi based, Boss fm, Alhaji Gedo said,”football in Ghana is losing its relevance and you journalist are sitting idle as the game wears out. You journalist are afraid of Nyantakyi and that’s why the game is gradually falling.”

“Some journalists go to the GFA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi for money and that is influencing their decision to be quiet on the truth else they will lose the financial assistance from the FA. At the appropriate time I’ll expose all of them (journalists) who have bent over for the FA and it is our game that is suffering,” he added.
