Crystal Palace striker Emmanuel Adebayor has turned down a call-up to the Togo national side in the upcoming friendlies against Tunisia to enable him focus on the club’s survival battle.
The 32-year-old is gradually gaining form having scored once for Crystal Palace since moving to Selhurst Park in January following 10 months away from the professional game.
Adebayor wrote on his Facebook page “This would be an honor to play for my country. However, I don’t think this is the opportune moment. Indeed, as you probably know, I just signed for a new team in London and I’m doing everything I can to be at 100 % physically and mentally”.
“I thank you for having me selected for the matches against Tunisia,” the Togolese striker added.
He went on to wish a great success for Togo’s upcoming matches as he wouldn’t relish the opportunity to play for them once again but due to the issue of mentally and physically fitness he couldn’t be part of the team.
