Elder Amos Kelvin-Annan on the 12th of March, 2016 gave an explicit talk on the subject topic “The Purpose of Sex” inside the Trinity Baptist Church, Oasis House, Madina New Road at a Singles and Young Adults Meeting (SAYA Conference 2016) during the church’s conference meeting dubbed “Digging Deeper Conference 2016” under the leadership of Pastor Kingsley Appiagyei which started on the 9th of March, 2016 and ended yesterday, 13th March, 2016. Ministers of the gospel in the persons of Pastor Mensah Otabil, Founder and General Overseer of International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) and Rev. Eastwood Anaba of Fountain Gate Chapel and President of the Eastwood Anaba Ministries were guest speakers.
Elder Amos is a Counsellor, Youth Trainer & Itinerant School Minister. Born on 27th September, 1969, he grew up becoming the Deputy Youth Director of the Church of Pentecost. He is the Training Coordinator of the Pentecost Youth Resource Centre at Tema. And is a Student Counselor of the Pentecost University College.
He married Evelyn Berko on the 5th November, 2000. His hobbies are reading, chatting with youngsters, visiting with and encouraging young people at risk, campus missions and exchanging of country gift
Elder Amos started off by saying “the evolutionist” would say “sex is evolved with human beings. But for those that believe in the creation story as written in bible, we know that all things were created by God”.
He mentioned that activities engaged in by human beings were created in God’s image and likeness. Concluding that if God created us then whatever activity we are undertaking right now to enhance procreation originated from God.
He said, however, that there are variants that have emerged that has been the creation of man.
He stated that the concept of sex brings together our natural disposition which is how God created us and the culture in which we find ourselves. He pointed out that there is for instance, sex which is given to say “thank you”, called appreciative sex and sex out of the norm, which is any sex that is between heterosexuals. He stated, “this act of sex is a deviant construct”. And there is also sex which is engaged in for the fun of it, that is, casual sex.
Speaking on “sex as a recreation”, he stated that the first foundation has to be in order, that is, marital consummation. Which is a form of covenant.
That one of the seals of the covenant is sex. With the ideal situation being if an individual had preserved themselves there would be an evidence of the covenant formed during the act. But it is rather quite unfortunate that many of us would not have come into Christ in that pure state, “virginity”.
