Former Black Stars Defender, Joe Addo has stake a claim for the inclusion of local players as Ghana coach Avram Grant Readies to name his Black Stars squad for the double header against Mozambique.
The former Chelsea boss is currently in Ghana following an order by the football Association and was spotted at the Tema Sports Stadium last weekend watching the game between Inter Allies and Dreams FC.
Outfield players playing in the Ghana Premier League have barely been given a looking by successive coaches of Ghana’s senior National Football Team and Joe Addo thinks that should change this season.
Speaking in an interview, the Accra Hearts of Oak chief scout minced no words in singling out some of the players he feels can play in the Black Stars if given the chance.
“Definitely [Local Players can play for the Black Stars]. Because I am with Hearts of Oak now, I can single some two players out immediately who can compete for positions in the Black Stars”, Joe Addo said.
“Akrofie is one player who can into the Black Stars defense easily and Samudeen is a very exciting player who can be a squad player if not a starter. Some players are always called to warm the bench. Samudeen is a local player who has alot of fan base and it will very exciting to see him play for the Black Stars” he added.
The former Black Stars Stalwart defender also praised the performances of Techimna City’s Baba Mahama in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign.
“I know another player too for Techiman City, Baba Mahama. I have heard very good things about him as well as another player from Hasaacas. Stories are coming out about some interesting players. So I think That if the competition is open fairly and local players are called to compete with the foreign players, Some of our players here can fit into the team”, Joe Addo concluded.
