Breaking News: Wa Rockets FC Attacked By Armed Robbers On Their Way Home From Techiman.

Division One side Wa Rockets FC were attacked by armed robbers on their return from Techiman after their opening league match against Berlin FC.


The Wa based second tier side lost the match 1-0 to the Brong Ahafo based Berlin FC but were sadly attacked by a gang of robbers between Yipaala and Tuna in the northern region around 3:30 am on Monday.


Cash amounts, mobile phones and other accessories were seized from the travelling contingent after severe beatings by the armed robbers reportedly identified as Fulani.


Head coach of the side Joseph Kwabena Fosu and team Manager Salifu Oromah received severe beatings on their heads whiles goalie Iddrisu Sanguo and full back Mohammed Almeyaw had to be rushed to the nearby clinic after been released by the armed robbers.


Narrating his ordeal to sportscrusader on their arrival at Wa, Salifu Oruma recounted the pain and the mental trauma he and his traveling team underwent.


“On our way from the Berlin FC match this dawn, a team of armed robbers mostly fulani, attacked us around the Yipaala Tuna road.



We were made to lie on our back and lashed seriously whiles moneys and mobile phones were collected from the team.


My head coach JK Fosu is currently undertaking some treatment after been hit several times on his head”. Oromah told sportscrusader.


On the items collected, the physically traumatised Team Manager recounted several thousands of Ghana cedis collected from his players.


“I can remember some 1350 in one pocket but the rest which is more than the first amount has all been collected.


Players have their moneys collected whiles my head coach has been drained of several Ghana cedis.


“Our driver has been affected as well as we watched helplessly.” Oromah concluded.
