Assistant trainer for the senior National team Maxwell Kunado has predicted a highly competitive season in the Division One League ahead of next weekend’s season openers.
The vice trainer of the the Black Stars tipped the second tier league to surpass the top flight league in terms of
competition as they battle for a place in the premier league.
The former Wa All Stars and Kumasi Asante Kotoko highlighted the incorporation of former Premier League players to the
second tier league as one of several factors that will entice fans in the GN Bank Division one league.
The experienced trainer acknowledged the healthy competition in the premier league but quickly sided with the second tier
league based on the restricted number of players to be registered by clubs in the top division.
Speaking to sportscrusader ahead of the season openers next week, Maxwel Kunado said, “this season’s division one league
will be much tougher than before.
“This is because a number of players who failed to make the grade for the premier league have rejoined the division one
league in time for the commencement of the league.
“The Premiership clubs cannot register players above some limit and this has forced some of the clubs back to the second
tier league. This will certainly help the players, the clubs, the league and the nation at large”. He intimated.
The 2016 GN Bank Division one league season kicks off over the weekends with 48 clubs vying for three slots to the
premiership in three zones.
