Razak Abalorah has said his West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) side was determined to end their poor away run in this season’s Ghana Premier League (GPL) when they played Accra Hearts of Oak last Wednesday in Accra.

Prior to that encounter, the academy lads had lost all their three away games by a similar margin (0-1) to Berekum Chelsea, Aduana Stars and Dreams FC, and, the goalkeeper said they were determined to halt that run going into this game.

The Academy lads frustrated the Phobians to a 1-1 stalemate at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra to record their first away point of the season.

“We were determined not to lose this one,” he said after the game, adding that they will build on this performance in their subsequent away games.

“Our game plan worked for us as we did not them to settle into any rhythm that could make them trouble us on the day,” he added, insisting that they did everything possible to win but Hearts fought back to earn a draw.

WAFA opened the scoring in the first half through Charles Boateng before Cosmos Dauda leveled for the Phobians in the second as the spoils were shared.

They will next play Ebusua Dwarfs at Sogakope on Sunday before heading to Bechem to play Bechem United in their next GPL away game the week after.

After scoring in Atlético Mineiro’s 4-0 win over Melgar, striker Robinho reached the mark of 15 goals in the Copa Libertadores.

After recording 14 goals for Santos [in the 2003, 2004 and 2005 editions], Robinho scored his first goal in an Atlético shirt in the South American competition on Thursday.

With 10 goals in 10 games for Atlético Mineiro, Robinho is also the current top scorer in the Campeonato Mineiro [9 goals].

Aged 32, the player still has a chance to enter the list of 10 Brazilian players with most goals in Copa Libertadores history.

After reaching 15 goals, Robinho has surpassed Rogério Ceni, Luís Fabiano, Washington, Thiago Ribeiro and Neymar, all with 14 goals.

Now he shares the 11th place with Leandro Damião and Alex, former player of Palmeiras and Cruzeiro.

With two more goals, Robinho can also match Brazilian football legend Pelé who has 17 in the continental competition.

Karim Zito Tips Jordan Ayew To Steer Aston Villa Away From The Drop

Former Black Stars player Abdul Karim Zito has tipped Jordan Ayew to steer Aston Villa out of the bottom three at the end of the ongoing 2015/16 English Premiership season.

The 1982 African Cup of Nations winner tasked the Aston Villa forward to drag his relegation threatened side away from the drop if he is to build on his burgeoning football talent.

The former Kumasi Asante Kotoko trainer tasked Jordan to develop more hunger than before if the world is to see the quantum of football talent in him.

Ayew traded Lorient for Aston Villa at the start of the 2015/16 European season and has since scored five goals for the basement club but Karim Zito believes the 24 year old can still improve on his numbers if he shoulders more responsibilities.

Ollenu Ashietey wants a move away from Hearts

Accra Hearts of Oak talented player Ollenu Ashietey, wants a move away from the club, citing the desire to seek challenges elsewhere as his reason.

Information gathered by sportscrusader.com indicates that, the player is no more keen on playing for the troubled premier league club and wants to be released to a club of his choice.

Ashietey, who according to information was placed on transfer by new Japanese-American coach, Kenichi Yatsuhashi but was later recalled after series of board meetings, believes the decision of the coach shows lack of confidence in him.

The player, is currently in a discussion with officials of the club for a possible move away.

Ashietey, is considered one of the talented players in the club in recent times, and touted as the player capable leading the clubs revival.

However, series of injuries have blighted his career.

Facebook Turns Away From Flash For Video

Facebook has stopped using Adobe’s Flash technology to show video across the entire social network.

Instead Facebook has developed a video player built around the widely used HTML5 technology.

Games on Facebook would still use Flash, it said, but it was looking into ways to change those too.

The site is one among many that have turned away from Flash. Many see it as a security problem because bugs in it are often exploited by cyber thieves.

Daniel Baulig, a front-end developer at Facebook, said the switch to HTML5 had helped the firm speed up the development of its video-handling system. HTML is the basic computer language underpinning the web.

In addition, he said, the HTML5 video player worked much better with accessibility tools such as screen readers that are used by people who do not see well.

Mr Baulig said it introduced the HTML5 player a while ago for a small number of Facebook members who kept their web browsers up-to-date. It did not launch all at once with HTML5 because testing revealed problems with the new player.

“We noticed that a lot of the older browsers would simply perform worse using the HTML5 player than they had with the old Flash player,” he said. “We saw more errors, longer loading times, and a generally worse experience.”

Facebook ran HTML5 and a Flash-based video player in parallel while it ironed out bugs. Now, the stability of the new video player has persuaded the social network to roll it out by default.

YouTube switched to a HTML5 based player in January 2015 and in September the BBC released an HTML5 version of its iPlayer catch-up TV service. Many other sites now offer alternatives to Adobe’s technology.
