GN Bank DOL Week 7 Preview (Zone 1): Bofo, Berekum Arsenal To Renew Old Rivalry

It wll be a mid-week packed with football action as the GN Bank Division One League returns following a weekend break for domestic cup completion, the MTN FA Cup.

There will derbies aplenty in Zone One as some clubs seek to get their campaign back on track after a less than convincing start.

The biggest among the derbies will be the game at the Sunyani Coronation Park on Wednesday, where old rivalry will be renewed between Tano Bofoakwa and Berekum Arsenal.

The home side are hoping to bounce back from their disappointment of losing to Real Tamale United on Match Week Six where as Arsenal will look to record a second successive victory following their win against struggling Unity FC last time around.

Elsewhere in the Brong Ahafo Region, Unity FC will play as host leaders Berlin FC in Goaso with Mpuasoman taking on Guan United at Japekrom on the same day.

The final derby in Zone One will see BA United squaring off against Wamanafo Mighty Royals on Thursday at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

Steadfast will welcome Wa Rocket at the Tamale Main while Tamale Utrecht and Bawku United will host FC Tanga and Liberty Babies respectively.

The only game away from the Brong Ahafo and Northern Regions will be the clash involving Bolga All Stars and Real Tamale United at the Bolga Stadium.

Match Day Six of the 2015/2016 GN Bank National Division One League, were cleared over the weekend with some very surprising score lines recorded in Zone One.

Berlin FC, maintained their position as leaders of Zone One, despite failing to amass all three points at home to Mpuasoman on Saturday.

The Japekrom based side, came into the game as the underdogs, but managed to run away with a point after grabbing a second half equalizer after Berlin FC, had taken the lead in the first half.

Following Berlin FC’s Saturday draw with Mpuasoman, Bofoakwa had the chance to go at least two points clear at the top of the table in Zone One. But the Tano based outfit failed to make the advantage count as they were thrashed 4-1 by RTU at the Tamale stadium on Sunday.

The defeat means Berlin FC, now have a one point advantage over their regional rivals and will go into another round of games top of the log.

Elsewhere at the Golden City Park, Arsenal recorded a 1-nil victory over Unity FC from Goaso with Mighty Royals seeing off Guan United 3-2 at the Wamanafo Community Park.

Wa Rockets at the Wa Park lost 0-1 to Bolga All Stars and Upper East regional rivals Tanga FC also saw off Tamale based Steadfast.

B.A United and Tamale Utrecht both registered wins against Bawku United and Liberty Babies respectively.

GN Bank DOL: Techiman Chief Warn Supporters Against Hooliganism

Omanhene of the Techiman traditional area, Nana Osei Ameyaw has cautioned fans of Division One League clubs to desist from hooliganism, stating that it will in the long run have a negative effect on their clubs.

According to the Berlin FC club President, fans should channel their energy into providing enormous support to the players instead of involving in acts of hooliganism.

Speaking in an interview, Nana Osei Ameyaw stated that act of lawlessness by supporters of Division One clubs should be condemned by club authorities for Ghana’s second tier league to attract more sponsorship.

He further noted that, it is about time fans are educated to know that attacks on away teams and match officials will only add to the woes of clubs since it is the club that get banned and in some cases get fined which will add to their financial burden.

Berlin FC have had a fine start to the season and are currently joint top of Zone One along with regional rivals Tano Bofoakwa.
