Shut Up And Be Grateful To Hearts, Polo Warned

Former Accra Hearts of Oak board Chairman, Harry Zakkour has asked former club player and coach, Mohammed ‘Ahmed’ Polo to shut up and concentrate on maintaining his football academy than chastising the club for his hardship in life.

In a poll been conducted by an Accra based radio station, Kotoko fans have been praised to show much gratitude to their current and past players than arch-rivals Hearts of Oak.

Former defender of the club, Agyemang Duah had said among his old clubs Kotoko is the only team to have come to his aid as he battles sickness and Mohammed Ahmed ‘Polo’ added his voice to the debate claiming should he have the opportunity to play in the next world, he will never play for former club Hearts of Oak because they are ungrateful.

Speaking in an interview with Boss fm, Polo said, “Look at how I’m suffering. Kotoko supporters are very good that is why almost all the players who played for the team are progressing in life. Look at Maxwell Konadu and others. In fact, I cannot say I’m the best coach in Ghana but for as a player I don’t think anyone comes near me. It’s very painful.

Harry Zakkour who led Hearts to continental dominance in the CAF champions league in 2000 and CAF confederation cup success in 2004 has caved in heavily on the former national player, Polo asking him to question himself why he failed than the club for his failure in life.

“Polo is not normally he’s going off his head, what has he done for Accra Hearts of Oak. He’s done nothing for Hearts his money is all from the oil business instead of insulting the club, he should be glad Hearts made him who he is today,” he told Boss fm.

“Polo has no certificate as coach no wonder he messed the team during Bright Akwetey and the late Sawyerr’s time as board directors and that prompted his sack. Polo is losing it mentally and I think he needs maintenance – if you messed your life up how do you blame the club?, he added.

No Bad Blood At Hearts - Nelson

Hearts of Oak board member Frank Nelson Nwokolo has rubbished claims that there is bad blood between the incumbent board and the old directors of the club.

The 2000 CAF Champions League winners has been in turmoil since Togbe Afede XIV took over the head administration after the flotation of shares in 2011.

Former directors who headed the club to achieve success in the late 1990s and early 2000s claim the decline of the club from grace to disgrace is down to ‘autocratic’ leadership style of Togbe Afede XIV.

Aziz Haruna Futah, a renown fan and former board member led a hymn in the last three years for fans together and take over ownership of the Rainbow club from the majority shareholder.

Harry Zakkour, Fawaz Zowk and many others have echoed the calls of Aziz Futah to reclaim the club after the resignation of Gerald Ankrah last week , but Frank Nelson insist there are no problems between the current board and the board of old.

“There are no issues in Hearts of Oak. If you ask Nii Ayi Bonte, he can’t say he’s an old or new member of Hearts of Oak, the only thing he can tell you is that he’s a supporter and he works for the club 24 hours,” Frank Nelson told Happy FM.

“I can tell you all the things perceive of Hearts of Oak, some of them are not true. Some of the things are normal because it happens even in our families… there can be disagreements at times, but at the end of the day we are all fighting for the well-being of the club.

“For instance, last season when results were not good, Nii Ayi Bonte, Alhaji Hearts, Harry Zakkour and co.  all drove to Obuasi just to give the team morale support, what shows there’s bad blood between us?” He quizzed.

“From where I sit, I don’t think there is any issue at Hearts of Oak to be solved.” He stated.

Togbe Afede Has Killed Hearts - Harry Zakkour

Former Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Harry Zakkour has accused majority shareholder of the club, Togbe Afede XIV of sending it to the grave.

Accra Hearts of Oak dominated local football in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, and conquered the rest of Africa within the same period.

There were reports that the club owed many administrators and shares were floated for interested parties to take over leadership. Togbe Afede XI V,  who Harry Zakkour claim he brought to the club, bought majority shares.

But since then, the 2000 CAF Champions League winners have lost the impetus that made them the best club in the country.

And Harry Zakkour, who was part of the board that led the club to greater heights, has accused incumbent Board Chairman, Togbe Afede of being responsible for the decline.

“He is the highest shareholder of the club and he makes the decisions for the club. Many of us have spent millions of money in the club but we have never declared anything in the club, Togbe Afede says nobody can touch him because he is the majority shareholder, okay nobody can touch him but he messing up the club,” Harry Zakkour told Happy FM.

“He is playing with the club, he is toying with the club. Togbe has killed Accra Hearts of Oak, he is toying toying with the club because doesn’t know his left and right and he expect us to sit down and let the club sink. People are watching him from the wall,” He added.

Harry Zakkour also claim that if Togbe Afede had a colour like his, he wouldn’t be spared. However, he has asked him to get his acts rights to return the club to it’s glory days.

He also bemoaned the constant sacking of board members, coaches and players. He said that will be a solution to clear the path to success.

“He thinks if he has has color like mine, he thinks he can walk in Accra? People will insult him left and right. Togbe should sit well and invite the old directors to come and help this club and stop changing management, technical team and sacking players. Sacking people from the club cannot solve the problem.

“Togbe said he has bought the club and believes as the owner he can solve the problems of the club. He should solve the problems, if he can’t, then he should leave the club and go queue for his money like the way some of us have queued and waiting for our money.”

Accra has won only one league title since the 2008/2009 season.

We Never Made Money Running Hearts of Oak - Harry Tells Togbe Afede

Former Board member Accra Hearts of Oak, Harry Zakkour has told Togbe Afede XI V he should expect to make money managing the club because the old directors never made a penny.

Togbe Afede, majority shareholder of the club, took over the head of the 20-times Ghana Premier league champions when the shares were floated in 2009.

The clubs has since suffered a major set back, going about seven years without major silverware.

Fans and former directors has put the decline of the 2000 CAF Champions League winners blame at the doors of the majority, and he intend told them he is not making money running the club.

And has told him he should not expect to make any money from the club because the club achieved success under the old management without any of them making money.

He also revealed that he was against the flotation of shares and that has made him an enemy of Togbe.

“I was against the floating of shares in the club and this is why Togbe is not happy with me. He goes round telling people Alhaji Hearts and I are sabotaging him. Nobody is interested in sabotaging him, we don’t think about him, we think about our lost club — the club that has made me (Harry Zakkour) who are I am, the club that has made many people who they are today,” Harry Zakkour told Happy FM.

“Togbe is the main problem of Accra Hearts of Oak. He says we should pay him and take over our club if he is the problem, but he has forgotten many of us spent money in the club before he came. He should leave the club and come queue behind me and wait for his money.

“Does he think we were making money when we were running the club?” Harry Zakkour quizzed.

I Sold My House To Raise Money For Hearts - Harry Zakkour

Former Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Harry Zakkour has revealed that he sold his house in East Legon, a suburb of Accra to raise money to fund the club.

The 20-times Ghana Premier league champions have struggled to gain grounds in the country’s flagship competition and fans have called on Togbe Afede to leave.

Togbe Afede XI V in return dared Hearts’ fans to pay him off and take over their club. And Harry Zakkour, who was part of the board that led the club to conquer Africa has told him to leave the club without his money because he sold his house to fund the club and has not gotten his money.

“Togbe is the main problem of Accra Hearts of Oak. He says we should pay him and take over our club if he is the problem, but he has forgotten many of us spent money in the club before he came. He should leave the club and come queue behind me and wait for his money,” Harry Zakkour told Happy FM.

“Does he think we were making money when we were running the club. He doesn’t even know I sold my house at East Legon because of Accra Hearts of Oak.

“He should leave the club and come queue for his money.” He said.

Former Board members of the Oak tree has been spilling their venom since Gerald Ankrah resigned on Monday.

I am Not Surprised At Ankrah"s Resignation - Harry Zakkour

Former Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Harry Zakkour says he not surprised Managing Director Gerald Ankrah resigned from his position earlier this week.

Gerald Ankrah, who replaced Neil Armstrong last year, relinquished his position on Monday for reasons best known to him though inside sources claim he acted swiftly to avoid embarrassment of being sacked.

It is alleged that majority shareholder Togbe Afede XIV style of leadership is autocratic, and that’s why board members of the club leave their post.

“It is not news [Gerald Ankrah resigned]. At last my own friend Gerald Ankrah has totally resigned from Accra Hearts of Oak,” Harry Zakkour told Happy FM.

Togbe Afede XI V is the highest shareholder of Accra Hearts of Oak, and he has final say on who should help steer the affairs of the club.

Harry Zakkour believes that Togbe Afede has destroyed the 2000 Champions League winners because he has no locus in football administration. He also called on the Togbe to bring back the old directors to steer the sinking ship.

“He is the highest shareholder of the club and he makes the decisions for the club. Many of us have spent millions of money in the club but we have never declared anything in the club, Togbe Afede says nobody says nobody can touch him because he is the majority shareholder, okay nobody can touch him but he messing up the club.

“He is playing with the club, he is toying with the club. Togbe has killed Accra Hearts of Oak, he is toying toying with the club because doesn’t know his left and right and he expect us to sit down and let the club sink. People are watching him from the wall.

Togbe should sit well and invite the old directors to come and help this club and stop changing management, technical team and sacking players. Sacking people from the club cannot solve the problem.

Togbe said he has bought the club and believes as the owner he can solve the problems of the club.

“He should solve the problems, if he can’t, then he should leave the club and go queue for his money like the way some of us have queued and waiting for our money.

“He is the owner, but he has forgotten that when the shares were floated some of us are owed about hundreds of dollars which we have not been paid; he hasn’t given us a penny.

“We cannot talk because we are not shareholders, we are not directors, and have to sit on the wall, see the big mess he is doing to Accra Hearts of Oak. I brought him to Accra Hearts of Oak and I wasn’t expecting him to do this big mess,” disappointed Harry Zakkour said.
