Fosu Mensah Agrees New Manchester United Deal

Dutch-born Ghanaian Timothy Fosu-Mensah has agreed a new long-term deal to stay at Manchester United, according to British newspaper reports.

The Daily Telegraph claims he will sign a new four-year contract with the Daily Mail adding an official announcement will take place in the coming days.

The 18-year-old defender, who joined United’s academy squad from Ajax in September 2014, made his first-team debut in the 3-2 win over Arsenal in February.

Fosu-Mensah had a splendid season under Coach Luis Van Gaal where he was able to make 8 appearances for the Reds in the 2015/16 season.

Fosu-Mensah would join 18-year-old Marcus Rashford and 19-year-old Cameron Borthwick-Jackson as young players who have been rewarded with new deals since the arrival of  Jose Mourinho at Man. United

Fosu-Mensah faces competition for a place in the side as right-back, with Antonio Valencia having been impressive in preseason and Matteo Darmian a second senior option.

Manchester United make bid for £19m Brazilian striker

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly made a bid for Palmeiras’ striker Gabriel Jesus Gabriel, who starred for Brazil at last year’s Under-20 World Cup, scored 37 goals in 22 matches for Palmeiras’ youth team last term.

And according to Brazilian newspaper O Estado de Sao Paulo, United have made a bid to snap up the youngster.

The 19-year-old has a release clause of £23.5million, but the Red Devils are one of five clubs who get a discount on the forward due to another clause in his contract.

United, along with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich can all apparently sign the teenager for £19m.

Gabriel, who has also been linked with a move to Arsenal, is expected to play for Brazil in the Olympics, and his agent, Cristiano Simoes, wants to wait and negotiate any deal for the striker after the tournament to get a bigger transfer fee.

He said: “Until then [the Olympics], it’s certain that he will stay. After that, we believe there will come good and concrete bids.

“Gabriel is calm and isn’t interested in these subjects, but he knows that many people want to take him and he’s now the main player who Palmeiras can make profit with.”

Van Gaal Reveals A Player He is Really Missing

Louis van Gaal has singled out Luke Shaw as Manchester United’s biggest loss during their injury-hit Premier League season.

 

Furthermore, the Dutchman also added that he’s more attack-minded than current left-back Marcos Rojo.

United have suffered greatly at the hands of injury all over the pitch this season, but most notably in defence, with the Dutchman being forced to pick a number of makeshift combinations at the back.

However, Van Gaal has singled out the absence of England left-back Shaw as particularly crucial, due to his replacement’s inability to provide the same attacking threat.

Van Gaal is quoted by the Manchester Evening News as saying: “When everybody was fit, I tell it again, I have said it before. We were first in the league at that time. Then when we had 14 injuries, or the double injuries on the full back positions, I could not solve that problem.

“Schweinsteiger and Shaw are the only ones who are injured now. Schweinsteiger, I have three midfielders in that position with Schweinsteiger, Carrick and Schneiderlin.

“Shaw, it’s still a problem, is more attacking as a full back than Marcos Rojo,” he concluded.

It is reported that Sanches and United also have a verbal agreement in place but personal terms and medical formalities are yet to be completed.

 

According to the Daily Star, Manchester United have got the permission from Benfica to conduct talks with Renato Sanches after a preliminary bid of 40m was accepted by the Portuguese club.

 

This signing will most likely go through before the Euros take place. Sanches who is represented by the super agent Jorge Mendes is tipped to be the next big star after breaking through this season for Benfica.

Confirmed: Manchester United Complete Signing Of Youngster

Manchester United appear to have completed the signing of Ireland Under-16 captain Lee O’Connor.

 

O’Connor is an attacking full-back who plays for his local club Villa FC, while he has also represented his country this season at both Under-16 and Under-17 level.

The 15-year-old recently received the FAI Under-15 Player of the Year award from Everton’s Seamus Coleman.

 

And the Irish Independent claim he has now completed a move to join Nicky Butt’s United Academy in July.

The teenager will become the first Waterford-born player to join United since John O’Shea in 1998.

His move comes a day after United snapped up 16-year-old striker Nishan Burkart.

The youngster’s father revealed Burkart will move to Old Trafford this summer from Swiss club FC Zurich.

“We have decided to leave the club in the summer. Nishan switches to Manchester United,” Burkart’s father told Swiss newspaper Blick.

Manchester United"s Rojo Reveals His Admiration For Ghanaian Youngster

Marcos Rojo has insisted that he is not at all surprised by Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Marcus Rashford’s rise to prominence at Manchester United this season.

The teenage pair have earned plenty of new admirers for their impressive performance for the Red Devils since being drafted into the first team by Louis van Gaal in recent weeks.

Rashford continued his recent fine form by scoring the winner in United’s 1-0 triumph over Aston Villa at Old Trafford at the weekend, taking his tally to seven goals in his last 12 outings.

Fosu-Mensah, meanwhile, has also caught the eye with a number of impressive displays in the United defence.

However, Rojo insists that he is not surprised by the duo’s fine form in recent weeks and says there is plenty more to come.

Speaking to United’s website, Rojo said: “It might have come as a surprise to everyone else, but certainly not us. It is not a surprise for us because they have been training with us for a while so we had seen what they could do.

“Tim has great maturity and copes really under pressure, while Marcus has been vital for us and has brought us some important goals that came in fantastic wins for us.

“They’ve been showing their qualities out there for the first team and in important matches.”
