Gyan Admits Disappointing Al Ain Fans

Ghana forward, Asamoah Gyan has admitted fans of Former club, Al Ain are disappointed in him joining rivals, Al Ahli of Dubai.


Gyan joined the United Arab Emirates club on loan from Chinese side, Shanghai SIPG after he lost his starting place in the team to Brazilian striker, Hulk.


The Black Stars captain, who joined his colleagues yesterday [Thursday] after signing the deal in an interview with the media, admitted the supporters’ [of Al Ain] displeasure in him joining their fierce rivals, but that decision, according to Gyan, is part of football.


“The fans are disappointed as I have signed for a rival club but this’ football, a player can play for just a club his whole career or leave.”







The former Sunderland striker will miss the last AFCON 2017 qualifier match against Rwanda due to his late arrival in camp.

Ayew And Gyan Shortlisted For SWAG Honours


Andre Dede Ayew has been shortlisted once again for an award and this time his immediate opposition is national team mate and captain Asamaoah Gyan after the pair were shortlisted for the sports personality of the year award by the sports writers association of Ghana (SWAG).


 

Harrison Afful will compete and defend his crown along with his national team colleagues Asamoah Gyan and Dede Ayew after the trio of Ghana black stars players were shortlisted for footballer of the year award.

Renowned coaches, Ashantigold’s Bashir Hayford and Black Queen’s Yusif Basigi will compete with Gyan and Ayew for the ultimate accolade.

For the Premier League Player of the Year, Ashantigold’s Eric Opoku, Liberty’s Kennedy Ashia and WA Allstars’ Richard Ofori will lock horns to see who emerges as the best.


 

The event will be held  on the 28th of May, 2016 at the State Banquet Hall, Accra.

Shanghai SIPG and Ghana Black stars forward, Asamoah Gyan has praised his elder brother, Baffour Gyan for been a shoulder he leans on in hard times and good times.


 


The former Sunderland and Stade Rennes striker lauded his brother for contributing if not 100% to virtually all is career decisions till date. Baffour Gyan, a former Black stars player has hanged up his boot and since then he has been an active member in deals with Sunderland, Al Ain and recently Shanghai SIPG.

Asamoah, 30, said, “Baffour, you know, is my back bone. All the decisions I have made in my career have come from him. I owe him a lot of appreciation. People like George Afriyie and co have also been there for me during my trying moments.


 


He added, “But I can say I am a happy man now. I have achieved all I want to in my career as a footballer”. Gyan was speaking at the Sports fans award gala where he was voted “sports personality of the year”.

The Black stars captain is currently home celebrating the Christmas holidays with his family and will return to China in the second week of January.

Ex – president, John Agyekum Kufuor has lauded Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan’s contribution to the game for both club and country. Mr. Kufuor thumbed up Gyan’s performances, stating whenever he (Gyan) puts on the national colours of Ghana and club(s) during the launch of Gyan’s band – ASABAND.


 


The Shanghaii SIPG striker has been to all three world cup finals with Ghana and is currently Africa’s top scorer at the FIFA mundial with 6-goals to his credit. Gyan has excelled at Italy (Udinese and Modena), England (Sunderland), France (Stade Renne), UAE (Al Ain) and currently China (Shanghai SIPG).

The 30-year-old finished third in the 2010 CAF Footballer of the year award and won the BBC African footballer award that same year after helping the Black Stars to a quarterfinal feat at the World Cup in South Africa

and was able to win the footballer of the year award in Asia on two occasions after scoring over 100 goals for Al Ain.

Former President Kufuor said, “I can decide to be over endowed by nature and obviously he (Gyan) has given a lot back,” Kuffour said during the launch of the ASABAND at the Banquet Hall on Tuesday night. Not only to Ghanaians but to the whole World as large, go to Britian, he has made himself a legend there, go to the Middle East, he is a legend, go to China now, Asamoah is a legend and he is also the captain of our Black Stars.


 


“It isn’t everybody that have been endowed that’s give back but Asamoah definitely is given back not only through football but also Music, dancing, entertainment. He just spreads happiness wherever he is and I bless and wish him a very happy and prosperous new year, he added.
