Wamanafo Mighty Royals will hope to cause a huge upset in the round of 16 ties of the MTN FA Cup competition when they visit the home of Wa All Stars on Sunday.

Royals are flying high in the GN Bank Division One League in Zone One as they chase a spot in the top-flight next season, and, have been impressive in the knockout competition so far.

It will be a huge upset if they are able to beat All Stars at the Wa Stadium on Sunday as the home side has been very dominant at that venue over the last few seasons.

And playing against the premiership side, Royals will have to punch above their weight to be in contention of knocking out their more illustrious opponents from the competition.

All Stars have targeted winning silverware this season, in either the League or Cup competition and will mount a massive assault on this game with a place in the last eight assured for the winner.

It should therefore be a good game to savour for fans in the Upper West region with the possibility of a shock not been ruled out entirely.

Elmina Sharks Hope To Continue With Good Form In MTN FA Cup Competition

GN Bank Division One Zone Two leaders, Elmina Sharks hope to advance to the quarter-finals of the MTN FA Cup competition on Sunday.

They will play True Democracy at the Nduom Stadium, Elmina in a round of 16 tie with the winner set to advance to the last eight of the competition.

Sharks are unbeaten in the Division One League (DOL) as they chase a place in the Ghanaian top-flight next season, and, at home, will be favoured to win this encounter.

True Democracy has surprised many with their run to this stage of the competition, and, the Greater Accra Second Division outfit will not be short on confidence heading into this game.

This game has all the attractions of being the tie of these rounds of 16 ties, and, it should therefore be a game to look up to in the Sunday encounters.

Church Must Instil Hope To The Hopeless – Rev Adu-Sekyere

The Reverend Alex Adu-Sekyere, Minister in-charge of the Bantama Peyer Memorial Presbyterian Church, has asked the church to do more to give hope to the people.

It should stand up against cruelty, all forms of abuse, intolerance and corrupt practices.

The Rev Adu-Sekyere, who was delivering the sermon at a packed Easter service, also underlined the need to stick to the true teachings of the Bible.

He criticized, what he said were strange and confused doctrines, which tended to be centred on materialism and prosperity instead of salvation.

“The significance of Christ’s death has been lost on many. Most of us have become greedy, selfish and have no place in our hearts for the poor, the vulnerable and the poor.”

He reminded the Christians the celebration of the Messiah’s crucifixion and resurrection was an opportunity for them to live transformed lives.

The occasion, he said, was not for merry-making but demanded a renewal of faith and a strong commitment to reject anything undignified and evil.

At the Apostolic Church Ghana at Ayeduase, Kumasi, the Rev Samuel Eshun, advised the people to be law-abiding, telling them that, Christianity had no place for indiscipline.

He again called for good work ethics and said everybody needed to emulate the hard work and sacrifice of the early disciples.

He admonished the congregation to lead modest lifestyles, eschew greed and corruption.

The Power of God At Work

Are you feeling hopeless because that long awaited breakthrough has not manifested and for that reason you feel like “throwing in the towel” and try other alternatives? If yes, then you are encouraged not give up. God has not forsaken you. He is still in the miracle business. Hold on a little longer. And before you know it, you will be swimming in the glory of that miracle.

Galatians 6:9 tells us;

“And do not grow weary in well doing; for in dew time you will reap (a harvest) if you do not give”.

And;

“though the vision tarries, it is yet for an appointed time”. – Habakkuk 2:3

To everything there is a season, a time, and a turn. It might be your season this moment, but if it is not your time then surely it is not yet your turn. Wait a little while and it will be your time and your turn.

3 Reasons To Keep Hope Alive

1. Hope is a Living Force

It is a living force that causes a believer to press on in faith despite the prevailing circumstances of life. It enables you to keep pressing on till you get your desired result.

Hope means believing when things looks hopeless, or it is no virtue at all. it is only when everything is hopeless that hope begins to be strength.

That is why in Romans 4:18 ‘Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”

NLT ‘Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping–believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have’

That is why in whatever situation you find yourself, you can only keep your hope alive, you will be victorious in Jesus name.  

 

2. Jesus is our Hope

Because we serve a God of hope who cannot lie. Rom15:13 ‘Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit’.

Titus 1:1 – 2 ‘Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect and the acknowledgment of the truth which accords with godliness,  in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began

Jesus our hope.  

1Tim 1:1   ‘Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the commandment of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope.

1 Pet. 1:3 ‘Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

The fact that Jesus Christ resurrected gives us hope that we too will resurrect and that there is no situation, however dead it seems that cannot be resurrected by the power of God.

 

3. Hope is an anchor to the Soul

Heb. 6:18-19  – We hope because it acts as an anchor to our soul. An anchor is what secures a ship to the bay or the water. Without the anchor the ship gets tossed all over the place because it is not secured. That is why we have to keep our hopes alive. Don’t let your hope be lost because it is what secures your soul. When your hope is not alive, you are like a ship without an anchor that gets tossed thrown here and there.

You never get disappointed of feel ashamed if we keep our hopes alive. Rom. 5:5 ‘Hope does not disappoint or make ashamed.

KJV says hope does not make ashamed. You never in the finally analysis feel ashamed or disappointed if you hold onto to hope. That is why we never throw in the towel or give up. There is no situation we are going through that someone else has not gone through and emerged victorious. There is never a closed door with God.

There are no hopeless situations; there are only people who have grown hopeless about them.

A number of years ago researchers performed an experiment to see the effect hope has on those undergoing hardship. Two sets of laboratory rats were placed in separate tubs of water. The researchers left one set in the water and found that within an hour they had all drowned. The other rats were periodically lifted out of the water and then returned. When that happened, the second set of rats swam for over 24 hours. Why? Not because they were given a rest, but because they suddenly had hope!

Those animals somehow hoped that if they could stay afloat just a little longer, someone would reach down and rescue them. If hope holds such power for irrational rats, how much more should hope affect our lives.

That is why whatever difficulty you may be facing in life nothing can ever be resolved without hope first. Nothing ever gets done in life without the force of hope. And until hope is in place, faith does not deliver.
