Elmina Sharks Hope To Continue With Good Form In MTN FA Cup Competition

GN Bank Division One Zone Two leaders, Elmina Sharks hope to advance to the quarter-finals of the MTN FA Cup competition on Sunday.

They will play True Democracy at the Nduom Stadium, Elmina in a round of 16 tie with the winner set to advance to the last eight of the competition.

Sharks are unbeaten in the Division One League (DOL) as they chase a place in the Ghanaian top-flight next season, and, at home, will be favoured to win this encounter.

True Democracy has surprised many with their run to this stage of the competition, and, the Greater Accra Second Division outfit will not be short on confidence heading into this game.

This game has all the attractions of being the tie of these rounds of 16 ties, and, it should therefore be a game to look up to in the Sunday encounters.

Four Goals Is Good But, We Can Do More - Herbert Addo

Inter Allies head coach; Herbert Addo said his side could have scored more than the four goals they recorded in their Ghana Premier League (GPL) game last Sunday at Tema.

The Tema based club beat Bechem United 4-0 at the Tema Stadium to register their second win of the campaign after going winless in their last four games.

And Coach Addo expressed satisfaction on his team’s performance but stressed that they could have done a lot more in front of goal.

“We created a lot of chances to have buried them on the day,” he said, but, praised the efforts of his charges as they registered their first win since the opening day.

Isaac Twum, Gockel Ahortor, Prince Baffoe and Ropapa Kwabena Mensah were all on the score sheet as they moved to eighth on the table with eight points. Bechem United are 14^th with seven points.

“Hopefully, we will build on this performance going into the rest of the games and I believe we will rise up to the challenge as the season wore on,” he said.

Inter Allies will next play Medeama SC in Tarkwa when the GPL resumes after the MTN FA Cup round of 32 games this weekend.

Medeama SC Confident Of Good Result In Sudan

Ghanaian outfit, Medeama SC are confident of producing a good result as they go into their CAF Confederation Cup tie this weekend in Sudan.

The FA Cup champions play Sudanese side Al Shendi in a second round first leg encounter on Sunday, with the return fixture scheduled to be played in Ghana after a fortnight.

Medeama arrived in the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Wednesday ahead of this weekend’s clash and are confident of returning to Ghana in a position to qualify to the next stage of the competition.

Club President, Moses Armah said on arrival that the boys are in confident mood and ready for the game on Sunday insisting that fear will not be a factor as they head into this game.

“We prepared very well in Ghana before coming here, and I can tell you that the boys are eager to perform on Sunday, President Armah said.

Asked about how he rates Al Shendi, he said they have very little knowledge of the Sudanese but will not be shaken as they go into this game.

Medeama SC advanced to this stage of the competition after eliminating Al Ittihad Tripoli of Libya on a 2-1 aggregate and are seeking to reach the group phase of the competition for the first time.

Starlets Performance Good For The Under 20 Team - Najahu Issah.

Goal keepers trainer of the Black Satellites Najahu Issah has heaped praises on the current Ghana U-17 side after their monstrous performance in the just ended Independence Cup in Namibia.

The Starlets  eased their way past their opponents to lift the glamorous trophy at stake in the four nation independence tournament but Najahu Issah said the impact of the players goes beyond just winning the mini trophy.

The former Real Tamale United shot stopper revealed that performances like this from the Starlets can only improve the U-20 side, the Black Satellites team with the needed transitions.

The experienced custodian himself,  tipped the current generation of the Starlets to make a  smooth transition to the U-20 and further up the national team log.

Najahu told sportscrusader.com that,  “the U-17 team is always a pilot team for U-20, anytime that the U-17 side performs well in any major competition it is always a clear indication that automatically the U-20 will definitely perform or do well too,’ he said.

“The U-17 team cannot be separated from the U-20 team in anyway since players move up the ladder with age and experience,” he added.

On the composition of the U-20 side for the upcoming African qualifiers, the aced shot stopper said, “a very strong work from the U-17 technical team makes the work of the Satellites coaches very easy”.

“It also helps the management to start with a seed team and know exactly where to start from before scouting for more talents,” he stated.

The newly assembled U-17 side under the technical guidance of Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin hinted at returning the nation back to its glory days with their sexy football in that Namibia tournament.

The technical team toured the entire nation to scout for talents and their exercise was confirmed in Namibia when they massacred their opponents by a combined aggregate of 15-2 in the four matches they played.
