Robert Lewandowski became the first man for 39 years to score 30 Bundesliga goals in a season as champions Bayern Munich beat Hannover in Pep Guardiola’s final league game in charge.

Lewandowski’s deflected shot wrong-footed Ron-Robert Zieler for the opener before Mario Gotze chipped home the second, and whipped in the third.

Artur Sobiech scored Hannover’s consolation at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern finish the season 10 points clear of Borussia Dortmund in second.

Bayern’s French winger Kingsley Coman hit the post with a header, while Iver Fossum, Waldemar Anton and Edgar Prib missed good chances for Hannover.

Before the game, there was a presentation to Bayern boss Guardiola, who takes over at Manchester City next season.

His final Bayern game will be the German Cup final against Dortmund next Saturday as he aims for a second domestic double in three seasons.

GN Bank Division One Zone Two leaders, Elmina Sharks hope to advance to the quarter-finals of the MTN FA Cup competition on Sunday.

They will play True Democracy at the Nduom Stadium, Elmina in a round of 16 tie with the winner set to advance to the last eight of the competition.

Sharks are unbeaten in the Division One League (DOL) as they chase a place in the Ghanaian top-flight next season, and, at home, will be favoured to win this encounter.

True Democracy has surprised many with their run to this stage of the competition, and, the Greater Accra Second Division outfit will not be short on confidence heading into this game.

Robin Gnange - We Cannot Be Happy With One Point Lead

Captain of Accra Hearts of Oak, Robin Gnange said his side cannot be happy with their one point lead at the top of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) after 11 games.

The Phobians returned to the summit of the league with a slim 1-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea on Sunday, and, now lead Wa All Stars by a point heading to the midway point of the season.

But Gnange said the team cannot be happy with the point difference and want to do more for the club as they chase a first league title since the season of 2008/09.

“We want to be winning all of our games as that will carry us to our target of winning the championship at the end of the campaign,” Gnange said after they win on Sunday.

“Last time, we fought to get the victory but unfortunately we did not get the three points though our game was not bad,” he added, in reference to their defeat to Asante Kotoko in Accra last week.

“The spirit was there and motivation too so we worked very hard at training and we supported each other to get the result here,” Gnange continued.

“We are happy we are on top of the table but it is not over because there’s only a point difference between us and Wa All Stars,’ the Ivorian noted.

“We are not too much happy [at the moment] because we need to create a gap between us and the second-placed team before we can be happy,” he charged.

“But this match is past and gone and so we are going back to correct our mistakes and to work very hard so that the next game, we can get the three points as well,” he said.

Accra Hearts of Oak will next play Sekondi Hasaacas at the Accra Sports Stadium in their next GPL game, and, will be favoured to win this one as the visitors have lost all their away games.

Andy Murray Ends Coaching Relationship With Amelie Mauresmo

British world number three Andy Murray has split from coach Amelie Mauresmo after two years.

Murray, 28, said he had “learnt a lot” from Mauresmo but they had “mutually agreed” to end their partnership.

“Dedicating enough time along with the travel has been a challenge,” twice Grand Slam champion Mauresmo added.

Since he began working with her in June 2014, Murray has won seven titles – including his first two on clay – but has failed to add to his two majors.

In a joint statement, Murray added: “She’s been a calming influence in the team and we will all miss having her around.

“I’ll take some time to consider the next steps and how we progress from here, but I’d like to thank her for everything she has done. She’s been an invaluable member of the team.”

Frenchwoman Mauresmo, 36, added: “Working with Andy over the last two years has been a fantastic experience for me.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being part of the great team of people he has around him. I wish him and the team well and I hope he goes on to win many more titles.”

Murray – who lost his number two ranking to Roger Federer after his defeat by Novak Djokovic in the Madrid Open final on Sunday – was previously coached by former world number one Ivan Lendl, under whom he won the 2012 US Open and 2013 Wimbledon.

The Scot was the first leading male player to employ a female coach, saying at the time of the appointment: “I’ve always had a strong female influence in my career and that’s something I needed right now.”

“Murray has always maintained he needs to spend 25 weeks a year with his head coach, and – even if a final decision was only taken last week – it has become apparent over the last few months that as a new mum, Mauresmo would be unable to find that time. She trained with Murray in Dubai in December, but since January’s Australian Open, has only been on coaching duty in Miami.

“Murray has been unable to add to his Grand Slam tally in their two years together, but has become phenomenally consistent and something of a clay-court natural. He will miss the calmness she brought to the team, and may struggle to find someone of similar experience whom he feels as comfortable confiding in.

“Murray will, for now, work exclusively with Jamie Delgado, as he begins to sound out potential successors to Mauresmo. You would expect him to seek someone with a glittering playing or coaching CV, but that is a limited pool and he is not an easy man to second guess. Murray is always happy to buck the trend, but won’t do so just for the sake of it.”

Hearts Will Go Top Of GPL With Win Over Kotoko

Accra Hearts of Oak will move top of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) table if they are able to win their Match-Day 10 encounter with Kumasi Asante Kotoko today.

Leaders Wa All Stars lost 0-1 to Medeama SC on Sunday, and, the Phobians will overtake them at the top of the table should they win this afternoon’s game in Accra.

All Stars has 20 points from 10 games with Hearts two points behind them on the table.

Hearts are huge favourites going into the Super Clash with Kotoko as they have been the more impressive of the two in the GPL so far.

They have five wins from nine games, and, have lost only once. They will lead the standing by a point if they manage to claim victory over their bitter rivals in the Ghanaian game.

Kotoko have endured an indifferent start to the campaign, having managed 11 points from nine games, a run that has included three wins, two drawn games and four defeats.

They lie in 12th position on the log, but, will move to ninth should they emerge victorious in this afternoon’s game.

The Porcupines have been tagged second favourites going into this encounter and, will be out to prove skeptics wrong.

Ajax Retain Title Edge With Goal Burst

Ajax retained first place in the Dutch title race by scoring three times late on to preserve their goal difference advantage over PSV Eindhoven.

The leaders beat FC Twente 4-0 but they will go into the final day of the season level on points with PSV, who defeated Cambuur 6-2.

PSV looked set to close the gap with 10 minutes left on Sunday as they led 5-2 and Ajax only had a 1-0 advantage.

But Ajax then scored three times to wrestle back the initiative.

It was the first time since 1991 that Ajax had scored three or more goals from the 80-minute mark onwards in an Eredivisie game.

It ensured they will go into their game at De Graafschap on Sunday with a six-goal advantage over PSV, who travel to PEC Zwolle for their final game.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko forward, Dauda Mohammed could not hide his excitement after scoring the only goal when the Porcupine Warriors defeated Dreams FC yesterday in their Match-Day Eight Ghana Premier League (GPL) game.

The 19-year-old striker scored what could be the fastest goal of the season after pouncing on Mozart Adjetey’s blunder from Amos Frimpong’s pile driver from about 30-yards.

“Coming into this game our position on the league log wasn’t deserving for Asante Kotoko,” Dauda said after the game.

Marseille, Dortmund Set Up Cup Final With PSG, Bayern

French giants Olympique Marseille and German powerhouse Borussia Dortmund have set up a domestic cup final date with Paris St-Germain and Bayern Munich respectively.

Marseille edged past Sochaux 1-0 in their French Cup semi-final game on Wednesday to set up a final against Ligue 1 champions Paris St-Germain.

Borussia Dortmund advanced to the final of the German Cup against Bayern Munich also on Wednesday after their impressive 3-0 triumph over Hertha Berlin.

Marseille who are currently struggling in 15th place in the French league, just six points above the relegation zone, will face PSG in the final on Saturday, 21 May.

PSG can complete a league and cup double for a second consecutive season with victory over their main French rivals.

The German Cup final will take place on Saturday, 21 May at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium between the two biggest clubs in the country, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

Coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi of Accra Hearts of Oak has denied rumours gaining currency that he is flirting with bitter rivals Asante Kotoko and could be opened to a move to the Porcupines.

The Japanese-American is owned two months’ salary (February and March) plus other bonuses, and, his refusal to accept his pay when management of the club tried to pay him, fueled speculations about those rumours.

However, Coach Keni insists he is happy with the Phobians and only want the best with the technical staff and playing body he works with.

“I refuse to accept my pay because my assistants and players are owned salaries and bonuses and this is not acceptable to me as a coach,” he wrote on his facebook wall.

He insisted that he has had no contact whatsoever with the people at Asante Kotoko and pledged his loyalty to the capital club, saying that the $2,000 he receives a month, is not an issue in this situation.

“All I want is to see my players and assistants paid and after, I will take my salary, he wrote, adding that he wants to work with a happy family were trust and confidence exists.

Last week, the Management of the club made an attempt to pay the coach monies owned him, but he rejected those advances and made it clear that he will only take his salary and bonuses after his assistants and players have been paid first.

Striker Foovi Aguidi has said he is targeting FA Cup success with Accra Hearts of Oak this season and believes that the next game in this year’s competition against Samartex on Saturday is a must win one.

The Phobians are winless in their last two games both in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) and turn their attention to the knockout competition this weekend.

Hearts go into this game as favourites in this MTN FA Cup round of 32 game and, Foovi agrees that the team must get back to winning ways as soon as possible to bring their confidence levels back on track.

Hearts have lost one and drawn the other of their last two games and beating Samartex on Saturday is what Foovi says is high on the players agenda as they seek a first trophy in this competition since 2000.

“We have no choice than to win this game for our fans on Saturday and nothing should stop us from going for the win that will take us to the next stage of the competition,” he said.

The players he added are focused on this agenda and will go all out for the win that will take them through to the last 16 of the competition.

“Victory for us is a must on Saturday, and we will go for it,” he said, adding that the home team will come at them in confident mood as they will be at home, but trusts that Hearts of Oak will rise to the challenge.

The Golden State Warriors have made NBA history with a record 73 wins in a season by beating Memphis Grizzlies.

The 125-104 win in Oakland means the defending champions surpassed the previous record of 72 set by Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls in 1995-96.

Steph Curry also became the first to net more than 400 three-pointers in a season, taking his tally to 402.

The falling standards of education have been attributed to many things including poor tutelage but what students of the Salvation Army Junior High School in the Obuasi Municipality is far worse that poor tutelage.

The lack of a wall around the Salvation Army Junior High School in the Obuasi Municipality is having a toll on effective teaching and learning as the pupils have to strain their ears to hear their teacher’s voices which are always drowned by the bleating of sheep, goats and the mooing of cattle who graze on the school’s compound.

School authorities therefore want the school walled as a matter of urgency.

Aside the number of cattle and domestic animals that graze on the school’s compound because the school is not walled, the school is also a dumping grounds as residents who leave close to the school throw their refuse in the middle of the compound posing health hazards to the school children.

Another challenge facing the school is the lack of a place of convenience for teachers and the school pupils. The Head teacher of the School, Daniel Nkrumah explained to Metro News that teachers and pupils use public toilets when they have to attend to nature’s call. For the pupils, they use that excuse of going to toilet to play truant.

The dilapidated block that serves as a urinal only needs a touch to it on the ground.

To this end the pupils do not use that facility due to the danger it poses.

On teaching and learning materials, Mr. Nkrumah said the school lacks enough furniture for the pupils and during examinations; some of the pupils have to write the exams in the computer laboratory to avoid cheating. He asked for support for the school.
