Beating Hearts More Than Motivation - Owusu

Asante Kotoko striker, Obed Owusu believes their victory over Hearts of Oak is motivation for subsequent games in the season.

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye had a game to forget after he scored an own goal and got send off as his side was beaten 1-0 at home in the derby clash on Monday.

“We are happy for this win but I think that is not all, we have to do well in our upcoming games,” Owusu told the press after the game.

“This win has motivated us a lot. It has boosted us for our next game. We hope we continue with this kind of performance.

“It was not an easy game, but we gave in our best and we were able to get the three points,” he said.

Kotoko is now four points behind second place Hearts of Oak, and will play Ebusua Dwarfs at home in their next Premier League fixture at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

We Expected The Win - Samuel Tetteh

West Africa Football Academy winger, Samuel Tetteh has said that their 2-0 win over Kumasi Asante Kotoko was a result they expected.

A late first half finish courtesy of Charles Boateng and an early second half goal from Samuel Tetteh were enough to enusre continue their dominance over Asante Kotoko at the Sogakope Stadium.

And Samuel Tetteh who was voted Man of the Match said they knew they were going to win.

“The win was an expected one because playing against Asante Kotoko, you always have to play your best and that was what we did,” the Malmo FF target told Super Sport after the final whistle.

“It was a tough match for us but I think we did well and we deserved the win,” he added.

The win for WAFA mean they’ve now gone three premier league matches without defeat against the Porcupine Warriors.

Eric Donkor 7 Others Honoured By Kotoko Victory Circle Atasemanso Supporters Group

Asante Kotoko Victory Circle supporters (Atasemanso) have honoured eight members of the Kotoko playing body at a brief and colourful ceremony held at the earlier this week.

The Victory Circle, one of the many supporters group within the Kotoko fraternity is inaugurated recently though they have been in existenc for some time now.

As part of activitis to inaugrate the ‘Circle’ members of the group honoured some players and officials of the group an action that has been hailed by the players who were awarded.

Some of the players honoured include, goalkeeper Ofori Antwi, Ohene Brenya, captain Amos Frimpong, veteran Stephen Oduro, Eric Donkor, Ahmed Adams, Ahmed Toure and Obed Owusu.

Hearts Of Oak Heading For CAS Over Obed Owusu Case

Following the loss of their review of the Obed Owusu case against Asante Kotoko, officials of Accra Hearts of Oak have decided to take the matter to the next level i.e. the Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS), footballcrusader.com can confirm.

The Phobians lost its review application against the Ghana Football Association’s ruling delivered on 20th October, 2015 in the case against Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC.

Asante Kotoko appealed and won against a decision of the Disciplinary Committee which ruled that the Elite Clubs Competition matches were not official matches and therefore, Obed Owusu could not have served his suspension by sitting out in the Kotoko vs. Dunkwa United match.

The player was therefore adjudged to be unqualified when he featured for Hearts on the 2nd August, 2015, after he had featured for Kotoko in three previous matches upon his 3rd caution.

As a result, Kotoko suffered a forfeiture of the said match by deduction of six points from their total points and Hearts were awarded 3 goals and 3 points in accordance with article 34(2) of the General Regulations of the FA. A fine of GH¢5,000.00 was also imposed on Kotoko.

Hearts then took the matter to the Review Committee with the hope of clawing back their lost points, but again lost as the Committee threw out the case, an action that has not gone down well with the Phobians who have sworn to take to the matter to a higher disciplinary body.

“The Management met last night as soon as we got wind of the decision of the Review Committee. We have decided not to let this matter rest and we are going to make sure we take it to the next level”, a member of the Management told footballcrusader.com.

“Obviously, the next stage is the Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS) and that is where we are heading towards.”
