Frimpong Bemoans Kotoko"s Poor Finishing

Asante Kotoko skipper, Amos Frimpong rued his side’s poor finishing in their one-all stalemate against Inter Allies on Saturday.

The Porcupine Warriors created several opportunities to take the game beyond the reach of the Eleven Is To One after taking an early lead courtesy of Bennett Ofori, but profligacy and super reflexes from Osei Kwame denied them victory.

And Frimpong said his side were not lucky enough to win the game after squandering several opportunities..

“We could have killed the game in the first half. He had many opportunities in the first half but we couldn’t score.”

“In games like this you always have to take advantage of the opportunities that come your way but we not could utilize our chances and allowed Inter Allies to equalize.” he said.

Asante Kotoko will host Bechem United in their next game at the Baba Yara sports stadium.

GPL Report: Kotoko Hold Techiman City

Techiman City continued their unbeaten home run as they settled for a 1-1 draw against Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Sunday at the Nana Ameyaw Park, Techiman on match day 16 of the Ghana Premier League.

Stephen Manu scored for Techiman City in the first half, before Amos Frimpong drew level for Asante Kotoko.

The visitors started the game very well by swinging their passes together and dominated the hosts in the early stages of the game.

However, Techiman City came into the game and Stephen Manu in trying to navigate his way through the Kotoko defence men was brought down resulting in a penalty kick. The former Kotoko player stepped forward to put his team in front in the 26 minute.

There were no more goals in the game to end the first half.

Back from recess Asante Kotoko intensified their search for the equaliser and Amos Frimpong the skipper of the Porcupine Warriors made their dominance count when he nodded in a cross from a free kick to make the score line 1-1 in the 56 minute.

Richmond Antwi emerged as the saviour of Techiman City as he came produced some fantastic goalkeeping to prevent Kotoko from walking away with all the three maximum points.

Techiman City are still unbeaten at home in the Ghana Premier League, but they failed to avenge their first round 2-4 defeat in Kumasi against the visitors.

GPL Report: Kotoko Close Gap

Kumasi Asante Kotoko closed the gap to the summit of the 2015-16 Ghana Premier League (GPL) to two points after beating Inter Allies on Sunday.

Skipper Amos Frimpong scored the only goal of the game from the Penalty spot after substitute Elvis Amoh was fouled in the box by Abass Mohammed.

The Eleven Is To One huffed and puffed but there was nothing more.

Inter Allies, haven gone five games without a win, started brightly on the sictaed the tempo of the match. Prince Baffoe made the first attempt on goal, but his long range went wide.

Few minutes later Sulley Mohammed could have planted the ball better when he rose above all the men in box to meet Simon Martey’s cross from the right but his header was too feeble to beat Ernest Sowah.

The pendulum swung in favour of Kotoko who threatened to open the scoring, but Obed Owusu fired wide and that was his last participation in the game as he was replaced Elvis Amo.

Allies industrious midfielder Gockel Ahortor dummied his way into the Porcupine Warriors box, but his effort was harmless.

The first half ended with no goals from either side.

Kotoko were more stronger in the second half. There was more urgency in the team play and the transition was quicker.

Michael Osei brought on Kojo Poku is on for Theophilus Nyame early on the second half to curtail the marauding runs of Ahortor and Wahab Ackwei.

Three minutes later, Halipha Sedogo came on for Edwin Tuffour Frimpong, increasing Kotoko’s attack.

The game was evenly balanced. Ibrahim Alhassan went sipped through Kotoko’s defence but his final effort went way wide.

Sulley Mohammed was giving his marching orders for seemingly time wasting when he was substituted.

Kotoko capitalised on the Allies loosing one man. Substitute Elvis Amo was brought down by Abass Mohammed in the box and Amos Frimpong took responsibility, dispatching the ball beyond Osei Kwame.

Gockel Ahortor almost drew the Tema-based club level immediately from restart, but Ernest Sowah denied him the equalizer with a sumptuous save.

With ten men, Allies dominated but were unable to equalise, and ended up losing their third game in six matches.

Amos Frimpong Fires Back At Bekoe

Kumasi Asante Kotoko captain, Amos Frimpong has had a pop at former striker, Eric Bekoe for meddling in the club’s business than concentrating on his current club.

Bekoe has been loud and vocal at his ex-employers poor start to the league season and prior to Hasaacas 1-0 defeat away to Kotoko, the forward said he was ready to add to the woes of his old side.

 

Frimpong has taken to social media to hit back at Bekoe to be focused on helping his side find their feet in the 2015/16 Ghana premier league season than worrying about his former side.

The last line in his message written in the Ghanaian language, Twi, reads, ‘Ya br3 wo’ and translates as ‘we’ve had enough of you and that was to suggest to Bekoe enough is enough.

 

He wrote, “what has your team done. Keep quiet. Concentrate on your game and leave us alone. You talk too much masa. Your time, your time, what did you do. Huh. Always throwing dust in to people’s eyes. Ya br3 wo.

Kotoko recorded their first win of the season with a slim 1-0 victory over Hasaacas that has temporarily changed the atmosphere to a cheerful one in the camp of the Porcupine warriors.

The skipper of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Amos Frimpong says the team must beat Hasaacas on Friday to revive their fortunes in the Premier League.

Asante Kotoko, record winner of Ghana’s domestic top flight competition, have failed to  start this year’s season on a good note.

They have drawn two and lost two of their previous four league matches in the campaign and currently languishing in the bottom three of the league log.

Their next outing is against Sekondi Hasaacas on Friday and Amos Frimpong says they must win the match at all cost.

“I really think that this is a must win game and we will all have to play above ourselves,” Frimpong said.

Frimpong added that the results they had in the last four matches were never easy to swallow, but he is more interested in the positive aspect in those games.

“It’s not that easy the kind of start we have had but we have to look at the positives.

“The game is a must win and we all are putting up efforts to make it happen for the fans,” he said.

The game will kick off at 1800 GMT or 6:00 PM. It will be on Super Sport.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko skipper Amos Frimpong insists that he and his colleagues are ready for any competition that will come their way this season.

Amos together with the rest of his colleagues returned from their week-long international sojourn to Libya where they played two international friendly matches against Al Ittihad.

According to him, he is very confident that the experience they had in Libya will impact positively on this season with the league title and FA Cup being their topmost priority.

“We have done a lot of work so far with encouraging results. Based on that I can say we are ready for the new season” he said adding that, the players are anxiously waiting for the commencement of the league” he told the Club’s official website.

The Porcupine Warriors left the country on January 9 for a two-leg friendly match against Al Ittihad. They lost the first leg 1-2 but showed massive improvement to share the spoils with the Libyans in the second game.

The contingent which was led by General Manager, Opoku Nti and comprised 16 players, management, and technical team members.

G-6: Kotoko"s Amos Frimpong Wins Man-Of-The-Match Award In Game Against Chelsea

Asante Kotoko’s captain Amos Frimpong was voted the man of the match by organisers of the G-6 Invitational Tournament, after their 3-1 win over Berekum Chelsea.

The player did a yeoman’s job in organizing his Kotoko teammates to thrill the fans of Essipong in all aspects of the game.

Apart from scoring the first goal of the match through a wonderful header in the 41st minute, he was involved in the remaining two goals scored by Kotoko and it came as no surprise when he was announced as the man of the match.

For his prize, he received a plaque from the headline sponsors of the tournament First Trust Savings and Loans.

Asante Kotoko has announced a three-year deal with kit manufacturers Mafro Sport at a colourful ceremony held in Kumasi on Saturday afternoon.

The three-year deal is worth $150,000 will see Kotoko players and technical team professionally sponsored by Mafro Sport for the next three years.

The jerseys come in two forms, one for home games and the other for away games.

Typical of Kotoko’s colours, the home jersey is all red with white linings at the edge of both the shirt and shorts.

The away jersey is however, different, but also signifies the colour of the emblem of the Club, yellow and black. The shirt is yellow with black linings at the edge and collar, whilst the pant is pure black with yellow trimmings at the edge of it.

Apart from the kits that Kotoko will receive for the next three years, Mafro Sport will also be making an annual payment of $50,000 to the club.

The playing body will don the new Macro branded jerseys come Sunday at the Baba Yara stadium when the team play as host to Serbian side FK Jagodina in the Club’s 80th-anniversary commemoration match.

Present at the ceremony was captain of the team, Amos Frimpong and Ohene Brenya. Others included the CEO of Kotoko Samuel Opoku Nti and the Club’s Accra Rep. Edmund Ackah.

Eric Donkor 7 Others Honoured By Kotoko Victory Circle Atasemanso Supporters Group

Asante Kotoko Victory Circle supporters (Atasemanso) have honoured eight members of the Kotoko playing body at a brief and colourful ceremony held at the earlier this week.

The Victory Circle, one of the many supporters group within the Kotoko fraternity is inaugurated recently though they have been in existenc for some time now.

As part of activitis to inaugrate the ‘Circle’ members of the group honoured some players and officials of the group an action that has been hailed by the players who were awarded.

Some of the players honoured include, goalkeeper Ofori Antwi, Ohene Brenya, captain Amos Frimpong, veteran Stephen Oduro, Eric Donkor, Ahmed Adams, Ahmed Toure and Obed Owusu.
