Kumasi Asante Kotoko will look for their first win of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season when they play Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.
The Porcupines lost 0-2 to WAFA in their opening day fixture a couple of weeks ago and, do have an outstanding match-day two game to clear against AshantiGold later.
Coach David Duncan’s side have been tagged by some as favourites for the title this season after enjoying a good pre-season campaign that saw them win the inaugural G-6 tournament.
They have started the season badly though, and, will need to get going with some point(s) to show after Sunday’s game in Kumasi.
Medeama, won the FA Cup last season, but, their form so far have been bad as well after losing their opening two games against AshantiGold and Hearts of Oak.
Coach Tom Strand is under pressure to get his charges going especially so as the will be competing in the CAF Confederation Cup competition later this month.
Sunday’s game promises to be a keenly contested affair with both clubs needing to get points on board. Kotoko hold the better head-to-head record of the two in the league and if statistics is to play a factor in this game, then they should win.
That though is not exactly the case and they will have a produce a performance worthy of note if their hopes of picking all three points is to become a reality in Kumasi on Sunday.
