The Ghana national swimming open championships took center stage on Sunday at the Burma Camp swimming pool as the national record was shattered in the 15 metres freestyle as various swimmers where looking forward to improve their metres billing system in the sport.
The anticlimax of the whole event was in the 15 metres freestyle swimming race that saw one of the country best swimmers Abeiku Jackson head to head with his rival Kweku Andoh.
The national record which was 24.74 seconds was broken in this contest by Abeiku Jackson by a time of 24.41 seconds, Abeiku showed some real energetic agility in the water outsmarting kweku Andoh who had a blistering start to the contest but failed in his quest to win the race with a time of 24.84 seconds.
Speaking to sportscrusader.com the President of the Ghana Swimming Association Mr.Theophilus Edzie said “i am very impressed with the overall participation of the championship especially with the 15 metres freestyle race and Abeiku Jackson proved why he is one of the best in the country”.
