Ashanti Gold accountant, Michael Mensah has debunked media reports that the club is financially handicapped and will not be able to compete in the upcoming CAF Champions League.
The Miners won Ghana’s ticket to represent the West Africa country in CAF’s inter-club football competition, but reports emerged that due to financial constraints, they may pull out of the competition.
But the man behind the club’s finances has said that they are in good shape for the competition.
“Ashanti Gold are ready for the champions league. Contrary to media reports we are going to take part in the competition. We have fixed February 14 for the game,” Michael Mensah said in press conference ahead of the match.
In a bid a to augment the already existing finances available, the club has released their prices for fans going to the venue and has pleaded to all and sundry to abide by their gate fees.
“We have made our gate fees available and we think it will be affordable to our fans. The pricing is not different from what we charged for the Ghana Premier league matches last season: Popular stand and Centre is going for GHS 5, Wing will be 10 GHS and VIP will go 20 GHS and VVIP will be 50 GHS.
“Gates will be opened at 11 am and the match will start at 15:00 GMT or 3 pm.
“Due to our financial constraints, we are going to ensure that everyone pay before watching the match to help us raise some funds to support the club.
“We are going to put security measures to ensure nobody has access into the stadium without paying. We advices that if you know you can’t afford it, please don’t try finding a way into the stadium without a ticket,” he warned.
AshGold will host Algerian side MO Bejaia on February 14 at the Len Clay stadium.
