The Cape Coast North parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Barbara Asher Ayisi escaped unhurt after a knife-wielding man allegedly attempted attacking her at her home Saturday dawn.
The 22-year-old alleged assailant entered the house of the parliamentary candidate and demanded to see her in her room.He succeeded in smashing the car of the candidate in an attempt to enter her room, but was overpowered by some youth in the area who gave him severe beatings before handing him over to the police.

Narrating the incident to Accra-based Joy FM, the Cape Coast North parliamentary candidate, Barbara Isha-Ayisi said “I was getting ready to attend the Speech and Prize-giving Day of Wesley Girls High School, where I teach. All of a sudden, I heard some strange noise at the frontage of my house; my driver was the first to step out because I was running late for the day’s program.”
“There were about five vehicles that were parked in front of my house but the guy went straight to the vehicle that had my posters on and started hitting the screens and the bonnet of the car with a flower vase and the iron rod he was holding. My driver then struggled with the man in the ensuing vandalism spree.
“He was shouting, ‘where is the NPP MP?’ several times. Had it not been the nature of my gate, he would have succeeded in his mission. You would have been telling a different story now,” she said.

Meanwhile, the suspect, who suffered several injuries after being beaten by the youth in the area has been taken to the Ankaful Psychiatric hospital for treatment, as police begin investigations.
Crime in general is a societal problem, a menace, but how can these attacks be controlled?
Is it a case of lack of home training? The Bible says, “train up a child in the way he should go, and when he old, he will not depart from it.” Prov. 22:6
I’m very glad the attacker has been caught but another thing that worries me is the violence attached to his being caught. This is not an isolated incidence. In the Ghanaian society, when a thief is caught, he is beaten to the point of death, that is the fortunate ones, the unfortunate are killed.
The question then arises, who then is a criminal? The one who committed a crime and is caught or the ones who were capable of beating the criminal caught to the point of death (or sometimes killing)??
