Democratic Republic of Congo emerged victorious in the fourth edition of the African Nations Championship final against Mali at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali,Rwanda.
The Leopards thrashed the Eagles of Mali by 3-goals to the nil to claim their second title of the championship after winning the inaugural tournament in Abidjan, 2009.
The Leopards opened the scoring in 29th minute through a wonderful screamer by Elia Meschak in the first half and the forward grabbed his second of the game in the 62nd minute,with Jonathan sealing an emphatic win for the Leopards.
The competition which is only open to players who feature in their respective domestic league was first inaugurated in 2009 which was one won by the Democratic Republic of Congo in Abidjan.
The leopards who qualified as runner up in Group B showed some fortified play in their defensive system led by their skipper Joel Kamwaki which really helped them in the championship accompanied with the brilliance of the star player Elia Meshaw.
