I Have Not Signed A Deal With Techiman City - Nasona M.D

Nasona Oil, an oil company based in Ghana has not signed any sponsorship agreement with Techiman City Football Club.

There were media reports that the Techiman-based club signed a 2-year sponsorship agreement with the Oil Company.

Last year, president of Techiman City, Charles Kwadwo Ntim said “We have signed a deal with Nasona Oil. The MD (Managing Director) of Nasona Oil, Alhaji Abuba Shaibu met the chiefs and people of Techiman and a deal was agreed and signed.”

But the Managing Director of the company denied signing any deal with the club though he confirmed negotiations were ongoing to sponsor the club should the Ethics Committee clear them of any wrongdoing in their alleged match-fixing with Wa Africa United.

The Ghana FA Ethics Committee on Wednesday February 3 ruled that Techiman City should be demoted to the third tier of Ghana football — Division two and that clearly scuppered Techiman City’s potential deal  with Nasona Oil.

“Our negotiations with Techiman City was based on a team going to play in the premier league, but the FA has demoted them to even Division two not one,” Alhaji Abuba told sportscrusader.com

“If you’re a business man, will you sign a deal with such a club? The sponsorship agreement with Techiman City like I told you in our last conversation, will only be done if they play in the premier league.” He said.

Techiman City are still on the balance as they do not know their fate as the league starts on four days.
