Parliament on Wednesday unanimously approved seven persons nominated by President John Dramani Mahama for ministerial positions in his administration.
The nominees included Mr Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuije, Minister designate for Youth and Sports whose appointment has been heralded by some quarters of the sporting disciplines as the arrival of the ‘saviour’ for the less financed sporting disciplines.
The former sports journalist like other approved ministers were congratulated and urged to do their best.
Giant screens in the Chamber of Parliament beamed on Nii Vanderpuije wearing a broad smile as a colleague tried to raise his hands up in appreciation to the approval as the legislators okayed the appointment and shouted “Yea Yea”.
Nii Lantey succeeds Dr. Mustapha Ahmed who has been head of the sports ministry for almost a year.
