Paa Kwesi Understands Thirst For...

Ghana national U-17 head coach, Paa Kwesi Fabin has said that he understands what he means for young talents to get to the opportunity to play for the Black Starlets in the Afcon Youth championship qualifiers.


Over 35,000 youngsters has reported so far to the training grounds to justify their inclusion into the national U-17 team — the Black Starlets.


And the former believes the desire for the players to make the final grade for the national team gives him the opportunity to select the best.


“I understand how much It means for this youngsters to get picked for the U-17,” Paa Kwesi Fabin told TV3 Ghana.


“The intensity and determination of this boys says it all. Every one of them wants to be part of the U-17 national team and is exciting, and also an advantage for me because it brings out the competition in the boys and that gives you the opportunity to pick the bes out of the lot,” he added.


“The country is bound with talents and we just need to put things right to be able to handle what we have at our disposal.” He said.


For the first time in the history of selecting players for the national youth team, the coaches have gone across the country to unearth talents.


Paa Kwesi Fabin explained the criteria for selecting players into the team.


“The criteria for selecting the players are many: physic, technique, and your ability to play as a team player. We are putting all these together before we come out with the team… we will also looking at players who can grow. Some of them, considering their stature, after four-five years, they are still at where the are — they don’t grow again.


“We are looking at players who can grow and can step into the next level.”


They technical team finished with their exercise in Ashanti Region last week and has moved to Greater Accra.
