Some "Authorites" Are Behind Techiman City"s Demotion

Akyeamehene of the Techiman Traditional Area Nana Owusu Antwi Bosiako II believes Techiman City’s demotion to division two is political motivated as there are some people with ‘power’ that influenced the Ethics committee of the FA ruling on the bribery allegations levelled against the Techiman club by Wa Africa united.

The Ethics committee of the Ghana football association found Techiman City FC and Wa African United guilty of bribery and match fixing after investigations into their Match day 22 game played at the Damongo Park.

Wa African United further alleged in the said letter that they were given GH¢2,000.00 (Two Thousand Ghana Cedis) by Techiman City FC as well as other payments for feeding to play a match of convenience.

Akyeamehene of the Techiman Traditional Area, Nana Antwi Boasiako II, claims he and his people are very disappointed and annoyed at the decision by the ethics committee and promised to fight this matter to the latter as according to him believes is politically motivated.

He said, “Since the Ethics committee ruled on the bribery allegation and demoted Techiman City we the dwellers of Techiman have not been happy. As this is the first time we will witness premier league football in Techiman

and with the FA sending over officials to check our facilities gave us hope that our dream will become a reality.”

New players have been brought in and money has been invested and now the FA claim they have demoted the club is not a reasonable verdict. I believe there are some ‘powerful authorities’ that influenced

the decision and it is this we won’t accept and we the lovers of football and followers of the club will fight tooth-and-nail to reinstate Techiman City, he added.

Techiman CIty have filed for a stay of execution with the Appeals committee of the FA as the first legal step taken since the ruling on Wednesday.
