The Sports Crusader Team of the Week is an initiative introduced by the fastest growing sports web portal in Ghana to demonstrate how Ghanaian players perform for their various clubs abroad.
To set the records straight, as we have always done, players are selected based on the following criteria:
1. The Coefficient of the league they play
2. The competition they are in (If they are not playing league matches)
3. Consistency
4. The competition they face from other players playing for the same position.
5. The positions they play
6. The number of minutes played in the game, and
7. The contribution of the player to the success of the game.
In the absence of Premier league matches on English soil, the Ayew brothers failed to make the grade for the sports crusader team of the week after several weeks of making the list.
Rejuvenated Baba Rahman walked straight into the starting XI after an impressive performance for Chelsea in their 5-1 mauling of Manchester City in the FA Cup. The 21 year old Black Stars full back joins a trio of Nana Asare, Dennis Appiah and former Kumasi Asante wing back Samuel Inkoom at the heart of defence.
Godfred Donsah and Alhassan Wakasu team up in a double pivot central midfield that has Frank Acheampong and Agyemang Badu bombing forward on the flanks.
Donsah pocket the scary Juventus midfeilders with ease as Bologna halted the champions run of 16 straight wins in Serie A.
An attacking duo of Emmanuel Boateng and Abdul Majeed look set to extend their scoring run after each finding the back of the net over the weekends. Majeed Waris capped his return to the senior side of Lorient with a quick fire brace to earn his place in the SCTOTW.
