Why Should Coperate Ghana Sponsor "Such" A League? - Obiri Boahene

The Ghana football association cannot seem to get out of the spotlight as there are many questioning how poorly they handle and administer football activities in the country.

The ethics committee of the GFA are yet to officially rule on the case concerning the bribery allegations involving Techiman city and Wa Africa united. The pair was involved in the 2014/15 GN Bank division one league as Techiman city qualified as group winner.

Nana Dwamerah, owner and bank-roller claims to have bribed Techiman City with a sum of Ghc2000 to enable them play a fixed match with the results favouring Wa Africa united and helping their course of survival in the division one league. Micky Charles of Techiman city has not denied receiving such an amount for such a goal.

Nana Obiri Boahene, Solicitor for Berekum Arsenal Football Club and Wa African United has admitted why and what he believes are the reasons behind coperate Ghana’s decision not to sponsor the Ghana premier league and why they often abrogate contracts with the GFA after a season or two into an agreement.

Speaking to Boss fm in Kumasi, Obiri Boahene said, “I am not comfortable with the day-to-day administrative running of football in Ghana and it is this that doesn’t surprise me when football fans interest in European games keep growing. Why is the FA keeping the Ahensan report? why?”

“We keep asking for coperate Ghana to sponsor the league and you think they will, why should they if a simple case involving Techiman city and Wa Africa united can’t be resolved and the report made public for all to see,” he added.

Techiman city until the ruling is out will play in the 2015/16 Ghana premier league when it commences on Feb. 20.
