Techiman City Will Surprise Everyone - Mickey Charles

President of Techiman City Football Club, Charles Kwadwo Ntim has said that Techiman City will play in th Ghana Premier League without any problems.

Techiman City were demoted to the third tier of Ghana football — Division two for alleged match-fixing to influence results of their match week 22 Division One League fixture against Wa African United.

The Techiman-based club has appealed the decision reached by the Ethics Committee but the Appeals committee is yet to respond to the Club’s request.

But the filing of an appeal and stay of execution according to Article 37 (17) means Techiman City is still a premier league club.

And Charles Kwadwo Ntim popularly known as Mickey Charles in football circles says the team is ready for the league and will surprise football fans in the country.

“Techiman City was prepared and is still prepared for the league,” Mickey Charles told sportscrusader.com.

“Coach Yussif Abubakar is ready with his boys and I can tell you Techiman City is going to play the Premier League (this season) and there will be full of surprises.” He stated.

Techiman City will host Berekum Chelsea at the on Match Week One of the premier league on Sunday at the Techiman Park.

Hearts of Oak Assure Fans Of A Successful Season

The Board and Management of Accra Hearts of Oak has said that they are the upcoming Ghana Premier league season will be a successful one.

 

The Phobians has not won any major silverware since the 2008 / 2009 premier league season.

But management is certain they have made all provisions necessary to be champions.

In a statement signed by Mr. Kwame Opari-Larbi, Communications Manager of the club said team’s pre-season preparations coupled with quality signings are signs that the Oak tree will come to life in the upcoming season.

“We can assure all supporters that the coming season would be a watershed year in which the Club would be put on the path to regaining its enviable position both locally and on the continent.

“However this mission just like anything in life would take some time to come to fruition. Consequently we would entreat all supporters to be patient and continue to rally behind the club.”the statement noted.

It continued that: “Every aspect of the club is being transformed to make it not only a model of ‘good football club’ but crucially a sustainably profitable entertainment business.

“As part of the efforts at transforming the club, we are pleased to announce to the public that Accra Hearts of Oak will admit children up to the age of 16 years free entry to all home matches beginning this Sunday against New Edubiase United at the Accra Sports Stadium.” It added.

GHALCA Fix April 21 For Elections

Ghana League Clubs Association, GHALCA has fixed April 21 for their elections.

GHALCA, the mother body of all league clubs in Ghana went to congress at the media centre of the Accra sports stadium on Tuesday February 16 to review the year and fix a date for this year’s elections.

And April 21 has been chosen as the day to for delegates to vest their power in interested candidates to lead the affairs of the association.

Forms are yet to be made available for interested candidates to file their nominations, but some have already made public their intent to vie for the chairmanship position.

Incumbent chairman, Alhaji Raji, Chief Executive Officer of Ashanti Gold, Cudjoe Fianoo, who has served as administrative manager of the association before, Nana Oduro Sarfo, chairman of GHALCA organised competitions ticketing committee, and Kofi Poku has made their intends known.

However, vice chairman Isaac Koomson is rumoured to interested in the position but will announce his candidature after the congress.

Winners of the various positions will be sworn in on April 28.

Techiman City File Stay Of Execution.

sportscrusader can confirm that Techiman City FC has filed an appeal and a stay of execution on the decision of the Ghana Football Association’s Ethics Committee to demote the club to the second division.

Lawyers of the Techiman-based on Monday submitted documents to the GFA Ethics Committee at the FA secretariat.

The filing of an appeal and stay of execution means Techiman City is still among the sixteen premier league clubs per the Article 37 (17) of the FA rules until the FA adjudicating body respond to their appeal — which will either confirm their stay or insist they should be demoted to the third tier of Ghana football.

Techiman City were demoted to Division two after the Ethics Committee found them guilty of alleged bribery and match-fixing to influence the result of their match week 22 Division One league fixture  against Wa Africa United at Damongo Park.

Techiman City appealed and were granted stay of execution pending hearing before the FA adjudicating body.

And on February 3, the Ethics Committee announced the decision after a thorough understanding of the case involving the two teams.

Parliament To Meet GFA Over League Delay.

A Parliamentary Committee on Youth, Spots and Culture has written to the Ghana will meet he Ghana Football Association for a meeting to discuss issues surrounding the delay of the Ghana Premier League.

The Ghana Premier League has for the second successive year, failed to follow the football calendar of the country due to legal issues before the adjudicating body of the FA.

The 2014 / 2015 premier league campaign was delayed by about six months when King Faisal Babies and Aduana Stars were tussling each other over latter’s failure to meet a deadline on the FA rules.

The Ghana FA were petitioned to make their rules work, but they were denied.

And 2015 / 2016 is following a similar pattern as alleged match-fixing case before the Ethics Committee has delayed the league by three months. The FA has fixed a date for the commencement of the new season, but a Parliamentary select committee wants answers to the why delay.

“We’re writing a letter to invite the GFA to find ways to solve the issues as quickly as possible for once and for all. Honestly, it is not good, last year we suffered the same thing and this year too we encountered it, it’s not good,’’ Hon. Kobina Mensa Woyome, MP for South Tongu, a member for the parliamentary select committee on Youth, Sports and Culture told Kumasi-based Boss FM.

“We have been following (the current issues surrounding the delay of the league) and we are not happy about it. We have gathered some information but it’s always good to talk with GFA.

“So a letter will be going to the GFA so that they can come and brief us what’s going on at their end, so that we will know how to solve them as quickly as possible,” he Added.

Honourable Kobina Mensa said the select committee has been silent due to oversight of responsibility, but have chosen to act on this issue because the Ghana Football Association manages football in the country.

“We have oversight responsibility about all the sports activities in the country which of course the Ministry of Youth and Sports oversee hence, we have an interest because the GFA manages our national teams.

“The running of the league is more or less like a private issue but once it has some bearing on selection into the national teams, we need to put measures in place to solve those issues.” he said.

Full 2015/16 Ghana Premier League Fixtures RELEASED

Prestigious Trophy Winners Clash On Match Week One.

The Ghana Football Association and Premier League Board has released fixtures for the upcoming Ghana Premier league which will commence on February 20.

After about three months delay, the FA announced February 20 as the date for the commencement of the new season and has followed up with the fixtures for the campaign.

The opening week of the season has match mouthwatering fixtures, notable among them is a clash between winners of last season’s prestigious trophies, Ashanti Gold and Medeama SC who won the Premier League Trophy and the MTN FA Cup respectively.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko who were bunldled off the title early last season, will travel to Sogakope to lock horns with West Africa Football Academy at the Sogakope Park.

Accra Hearts of Oak have dominated the headlines for the past week with off the the field brouhaha, but come February 20, they will hope all dust will be settle they take to the field to welcome New Edubaise at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Communication Director of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Saani Daara has told Ghanaians putting pressure on the country’s football governing body it is not the responsibility of the association to provide sponsorship for club football.

The Ghana Premier League has been struggling to get hold onto a sponsor for the league for past decade with many blaming the FA.

The2013/2014 premier league season began without a headline sponsor after GLO scraped off their agreement with Ghana FA, though the FA said GLO sponsorship came to a sour end because they were delaying with payment due the FA.

First Capital Plus Bank now Capital Bank came on board and signed a 5-years agreement with the FA worth ten million dollars but has suspended their sponsorship responsibilities with claims of restructuring.

The FA is persuading the financial institution to rescind their decision, but Saani Daara insist it is not the FA’s responsibility to get a headline sponsor for the inter-club competition.

“It is not a mandate that when you sign to play or when you qualify to play in the Ghana Premier league, the GFA must as a matter of fact look for sponsorship for you. It is important that the FA look for a headline sponsor for the league and other sponsors for the association,” he told Atinka FM.

“But that is not the basis for any team joining the league. You want to play in the competition and win teophies and even of it comes to the point that the there is no sponsor, the FA will work towards getting a new sponsor.”

The FA is still on the look out for a potential sponsor for the league before the new season commences on February 20.

Appointment Of Sports Ministers Has Been Poor - Kurt Okraku

Chief Executive Officer of newly promoted Ghana Premier League side Dreams Football Club, Kurtz Okraku has said the government of Ghana has always kept square pecks in round holes when it comes to the appointing ministers for the Youth and Sports Ministry.

Khe Sports Ministry has been reshuffled  in the last decade, with the latest to be uprooted from the ‘lions den’ is Dr.Mustapha Ahmed who was relieved off his duties after eight months.

Kurt Okraku believes the constant changes in the sports Ministry is due to lack knowledge of the administrators chosen to lead the body.

“Sports Ministers are appointed by the presidency, my singular opinion is that it’s been poor if it comes to the appointment of Sports Ministers.

“Football is a specialized industry, you need people with the requisite skills and knowledge, when you bring people with no connection to the industry they will fumble. You bring people with no history, connection, love and passion they will come and take kindergarten decisions,” the former Wassaman MD told Radio Ghana.

The Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association believes the best man — Nii Lantey Vanderpuje suited for the Sports Ministry has  finally been appointed.

“For the first time, we have a proper sports person being appointed as the Sports Minister, I hope Nii Lante Vanderpuye who is full of passion and enthusiasm will bring his many years of association with the various sports disciplines to bear on the industry,” He said.

Dreams FC Name Commey Club Physiotherapist

Dreams Football Club has announced the appointment of James Commey-Bortsie as the club’s new Physiotherapist.

The German-trained masseur and sports physiotherapist’s appointment falls in line with the club’s vision of strengthening all departments to nurture and produce world class talents in the sport.

Commey-Bortsie comes into the job with a worth of experience both home and abroad.

His responsibilities include making physical assessments and treatments of players, prompt pain reduction response especially in training and in matches and also preside over the rehabilitation of injured players.

Administrative Manager of Dreams Football Club Ameenu Shardow hailed the appointment of the experienced physiotherapist as a further step in the onward march of the club’s ambition to attain excellence on all fronts.

“We are very happy to have an experienced hand like Mr. Commey-Bortsie joining the club,” he told www.dreamsfc.com .

“The medical needs of our playing staff is of ultimate importance to us and we believe these needs are being catered for especially with the arrival of Mr. Commey-Bortsie.

“His training, proven track record and experience made him the obvious choice for this club and we are happy to have him with us.”

Mr. Commey-Bortsie has prior experience working with clubs in the Ghanaian top flight having worked with the likes of Hearts of Oak, Sekondi Eleven Wise and Hasaacas.

He also worked with the Ghana U23 national team (the Black Meteors) in 1974.

Dreams FC Ready If GPL Starts Tomorrow - Ibrahim Dossey

The Premier League Board of the Ghana Football Association is yet to release it’s schedule for the 2015-16 Ghana Premier League season but Director of Football for Dreams FC, Ibrahim Dossey believes his side is ready to compete against any team on any day.

“We are ready to play even if the league starts tomorrow,” he told the official website of the club.

The Kweiman-based club has signed a squad of 36 players, but will prune it down to 30 before the Ghana Premier league first game expected to kick off in the latter part of February.

Many of those players are have not felt tge vibe of the Premier League before, but Ibrahim Dossey has played down inexperience could hamper their success in the upcoming season.

“What is inexperience, so far as I am concerned my boys are prepared and gradually as you play some matches you learn more.

“It is important we play some of these premier sides (in pre-season) because that also boosts the confidence of the players and the entire club.” He added.

Dreams FC engaged Inter Allies, who are in their third season in Ghana Premier league in a friendly at the Tema Sports Stadium amd lost 2-01, but Ibrahim Dossey says it is learning curve for the players

“The game at Tema was good for us because it’s another form of exposure to even play on the artificial turf,” he noted.

The date for the commencement of the league will be announced tomorrow by the Football Association and the Premier League Board.

Emmanuel Hayford Joins Dreams FC.

Former Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder Emmanuel Hayford has joined Ghana premier league debutants Dreams Football Club.

The 24-year old attacking midfielder had his contract terminated by Hearts of Oak at the 2015/16 league season for alleged lack of commitment and discipline.

Emmanuel Hayford denied the allegations leveled against him by the club.

And the Kweiman-based club have moved swiftly to add the talented playmaker to the list of their registered new players on the transfer deadline day

Delay Of GPL A Major Worry To Clubs - Kurt Okraku

President of Dreams Football Club, Kurt Okraku says the delay of the Ghana Premier League is a worry to all clubs in the country.

The First Capital Plus Bank Premier League debutants are in dire need of competitive football to keep their talent development plan on track, but the FA and PLB are yet to get even a date for the premier league.

Though the league delay has not affected their project which is to scout for talents and give them the platform to sell their worth, Kurt Okraku is perturbed that the lack of competitive football has made it difficult for clubs to themselves in good shape.

“We’ve bought well in the transfer market and I have so much believe in the team we are building because the new players are pushing above their limits to integrate well with the old ones,” Kurt Okraku told Asempa FM.

The just ended G-6 invitational tournament was one many described as ‘waste of resources and time’, but Okraku thinks it was competitive, and that what they are doing in training cannot be relied upon when there is no competition.

He added that the aim of Dreams Football Club is to stay in the league and winning any trophy will be a plus.

“We cannot rely solely on what we’re doing in training to grade ourselves. And after watching the G6 tournament we saw all participating clubs doing very well in my opinion.” He said.

“We will play to stay in the league but if we are able to win any trophy, we’ll take  that as a bonus.” He added.

Kurt Okraku few weeks ago said his side were not worried by the league delay, but in a sharp twist, he now sees it a worry.

“The delay of the league has been a worry to all the clubs in the country. Development of players is enhanced by competition, and so when the players you are trying to develop get competitions, it helps a lot, but with or without competition, Dreams FC will continue to go according to our planned projects which is to develop talents.”

“We have combined the conventional football team and the academy system programme in which provisions have been made to follow judiciously, so I can say the delay hurts, but we have laid out structures to tackle these kind of things.”

Dreams FC ended the season as winners of Zone 3, but they are yet to be confirmed officially because Tema Youth is battling with them for fielding a player with two different names during the season.
