I Didn"t Spend Much In GHALCA Elections

Former Chief Executive officer of Berekum Chelsea, Nana Oduro Sarfo has revealed that he spent less on delegates prior Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), elections.

Nana Oduro Sarfo contested for the chairmanship post at GHALCA alongside Isaac Wilberforce Koomson, Kudjoe Fianoo and Kofi Poku.

Unfortunately, delegates chose Kudjoe Fianoo ahead of him despite despite paying their transport from their locations.

He also fed them, but only 13 voted for him.

“The delegates have spoken. We all had our messages and our vision for GHALCA but delegates bought into his ideas,” Mr. Sarfo told Sportscrusader.com

“I am happy I didn’t spend much on the delegates. I gave some of them transport fare and bought food for about 40, of them at the restaurant.” He added.

Mr. Sarfo also praised delegates for not selling their conscience.

“I think they want they want the best for GHALCA and I am for that. They showed that their conscience cannot be bought and that is good for the association.”

Koomson Congratulates Kudjoe Fianoo

Outgoing Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), vice chairman, Isaac Wilberforce Koomson has congratulated Kudjoe Fianoo on winning the chairmanship post.

Isaac Koomson contested for the chairmanship post, but lost to Kudjoe Fianoo who amassed 63 out of the 102 valid votes cast.

Mr. Koomson is disappointed he could not succeed his boss, Alhaji Raji, but believes Mr. Fianoo has the ability to lead the association to greater.

“It is an elections and you must be ready for any result, delegates have the power to decide who lead the association and they chose Kudjoe, congratulations to him,” the Accra representative of Aduana Stars told Sportscrusader.com.

Isaac Koomson also thanked all delegates who vested their confidence on him

“Many delegates showed confidence but unfortunately, it wasn’t to be. I wan to take this opportunity to thank all my well wishers and those who believed in me.” Je said.

Isaac Koomson hinted he will take a shot break and return stronger.

Kofi Poku Open To Work With Fianoo

Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Executive member, Kofi Poku says he is ready to work with the Association’s chairman elect, Kudjoe Fianoo.

Mr Poku, vice chairman of the MTN FA Cup Committee, contested for the seat, but lost out to Kudjoe Fianoo who won convincingly.

However, he said he is ready to share ideas with the AshantiGold CEO should he consult him for him for his opinion.

“Mr Fianoo sold his message to the delegates and they bought it and decided that he should lead GHALCA,” Kofi Poku told Sportscrusader.com.

“His vision is different from mine and he should be his own man. I don’t know what he is bringing on board but if he consults me, I will not hesitate to contribute my quota,” he added.

Kudjoe Fianoo and his team will be  sworn into office on Monday, 28 April.

Why Kudjoe Fianoo Won GHALCA Elections

The race began in February this year and on the 21 April, the grace fell on Kudjoe Fianoo to succeed Alhaji Braimah Raji as chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA).

The race was as thicker as a concrete, and  barely did football connoisseurs, believed that Kudjoe Fianoo will whitewash Isaac Koomson, Kofi Poku and Nana Oduro Sarfo in the race for the seat.

Isaac Koomson was rated highly among members of the Association and delegates, but he pulled a total 13 votes from the 102 votes cast.

I must admit I was completely taken aback by the decision of the delegates considering the conversation I had with a  chunk of them to the elections.

Most of them bought into the idea of Isaac Koomson and Kofi Poku, and the race was destined to he closely contested by the duo. However, Kudjoe Fianoo spring up and won the race.

Speaking to delegates who vested their power in the AshantiGold Chief Executive Officer, Sportscrusader.com observed that Kudjoe Fianoo won the race with his image.

The former Ghana Football Association (GFA), Executive Committee member’s presence epitomized his chances. Delegates are convinced that the success GHALCA chalked when he was part of the Association will be revived should he lead the dream of the club.

It is believed that he will champion their call for clubs to have a say when decisions about Ghana football is made at the highest level.

GHALCA Elections Tomorrow

All is set for the 2016 Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) elections at the Accra Sports Stadium media centre tomorrow (Thursday).

Delegates of the various league clubs in the country are expected in Accra tonight to exercise their franchise on elections day.

Four candidates, Kudjoe Fianoo, Chief Executive officer of AshantiGold Sporting Club, Nana Oduro Sarfo, former CEO of Berekum Chelsea, Kofi Poku, vice chairman of MTN FA Cup Committee and Isaac Wilberforce Koomson, incumbent vice chairman of GHALCA are vying for the chairmanship seat.

Alex Akumey vice president of New Edubiase and George Amoako, will contest for the vice chairmanship and treasurer seats unopposed.

George Offosuhene of WAFA and John Ansah of Ebusua Dwarfs will wrestle for the mantle to represent Premier League Clubs in the Association, while Otuo-Acheampong and Samuel Aboabre will go unopposed for Division One and Two repS respectively.

The elections is scheduled to start at 11:00 am.

Statement From GHALCA On Thursday"s Elections

The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), have announced that the 2016 elections will be held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, 21 April.

Sportscrusader.com last week reported that the elections is in limbo, but the Elections Committee, led by Major Yaw Larson (Rtd), gave the green light for the Association to go ahead with the elections.

Statement From GHALCA On Thursday"s Elections

Al League Clubs Eligible To Vote

Sportscrusader.com can confirm that, all league clubs have paid their Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), affiliation fee and are eligible to vote in this year’s elections.

GHALCA including premier,  Division One and two clubs, pay yearly affiliation fee of 100 and 50 cedis to ensure they are members of the Association.

Clubs who fail to pay their affiliation fee are not eligible to vote. Sportscrusader understands that clubs hardly pay their yearly fee and they are always compelled to pay during election year to be eligible to vote.

This year, all clubs and Regional Football Association (RFA’s) have paid their fees and presented their delegates.

The GHALCA elections will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium media centre on Thursday April 21.

Four candidates, including Kudjoe Fianoo, Kofi Poku, Isaac Wilberforce Koomson and Nana Oduro Sarfo are vying for the chairmanship post in the association, whilst Alex Akumey is unopposed for the vice chairman post.

George Amoako, vice chairman of the Premier League Board (PLB), is unopposed for the treasurer role.

Otuo Acheampong and and Samuel Aboabre are in for the Division One representative respectively, whilst George Offosuhene of WAFA and John Ansah of Ebusua Dwarfs vying for the Premier League rep.

Elected executives will be sworn into office next week Monday.

My Image Will Win Me GHALCA Elections - Koomson

Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Chairmanship aspirant, Isaac Wilberforce Koomson says his image will be key in the race for the association’s top job.

Koomson believes his leadership style is unquestionable, and delegates will give him the mandate to chair the association.

“The image of everyone before the people is important in every elections. Yes, your message to the people play a part, but your campaign will come to nought if you don’t have a good image,” Koomson, vice chairman of the association told sportscrusader.com.

“I have worked with people who knows me very well and know GHALCA under my leadership is good in hands. They I know I am very transparent, they know my integrity.

“And that’s what I will bring on board — integrity and transparency.” He stated.

Mr. Koomson also reiterated that football administrators are key to the success of football and he will put a welfare scheme in place to motivate them.

12 GPL Clubs Yet To Submit Their GHALCA Delegates

Twelve [12] Ghana Premier league Clubs are yet to present their delegates for this month’s Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) elections.

GHALCA, the mother body of all league clubs in the country, will go to the polls on Tuesday April 21, but only four of the sixteen (16) have presented members, who will represent them during the elections.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, Ebusua Dwarfs and West Africa Football Academy (WAFA), are the only premier clubs who have presented their members.

Club are entreated to present a member  who will represent them through GHALCA’s email GHALCA@gmail.com by April 15.

GPL Club Yet To Pay GHALCA Affiliation Fee

Ghana Premier League (GPL) side,  Bechem United have not paid their Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) membership fee for this year.

GHALCA, the mother body of all league clubs in Ghana, is the welfare body of it’s members.

It is mandatory for each member of  the association to pay membership fee yearly.

Fifteen of the Premier League Clubs have paid, but Bechem United is yet to satisfy their obligation.

GHALCA will go to the polls on April 21 to elect new executives.

I Understand GHALCA Better - Kofi Poku

Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) chairmanship aspirant, Kofi Poku says trusting the association under his care will be a blessing to all clubs.

The MTN FA Cup vice chairman believes his four years as member of the mother body of all league clubs in the country, has enhanced knowledge on the Association.

Mr. Poku has therefore on delegates to throw their weight behind him to win the April elections.

He promised to build the capacity of the club administrators to understand the modern trends of football administration

“We need to build the capacity of our club men to understand the modern trend of football administration,” Kofi Poku told sportscrusader.com

“I have been part of GHALCA for the past four years so I have come to understand and know what the needs are,” said.

Mr. Poku believes he has the credentials, to ensure he wins the confidence of clubs when he is given the mandate to chair the association.

He added that he is only coming to continue with what he has been doing for clubs in the country.

“League Clubs must have confidence in us because which ever way it is, we need their support, that’s why i said that we must let them understand why we have come, the vision we have for GHALCA and where we want to move GHALCA to.

“I am part of GHALCA so I understand the problems, but even if I tell you now that this is what I want to do, I am going to work with people and they should know what I can bring on board.

“Fortunately, it is not something i am coming to do, I have been doing them: talk about sponsorship, building capacity, helping clubs in Div two and Division One and even in the premiere league…these are things that I have been doing so is just a work in progress.” He said.
