The Premier League Board on behalf of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) wishes to express its profound support to Premier League Champions, Ashantigold in their African campaign this season.

As our champion club kick off their CAF Champions League campaign against M.O. Bejaia of Algeria this weekend, the GFA is of the belief that Ashantigold will scale this intial hurdle and go very far in the competition.

Th current Ashantigold team has history to look up to for motivation ib the competition, as the club is a pioneer of the CAF Champions League and the first Ghanaian club to play in a grande finale of the competition in 1997.

The GFA urges Ashantigold to emulate the resilience of that historic squad to restore Ghana’s pride in the competition.

AshGold Must Beat Bejaia - Fatau Dauda

Ashantigold keeper Fatau Dauda is optimistic his side that he and his colleagues has no option than to beat MO Bejaia in their CAF Champions league preliminary first leg qualifier on Sunday.

The Miners are scheduled to play the Algerians in Obuasi this weekend but raised some doubts after an unimpressive display against Medeama in the Ghana Super Cup.

However, the Ghana international believes his side are focused on achieving victory irrespective of their performance in the Super Cup.

“Some of the players are young players. We also started when we were young and they gave us the platform to play and we got to where we are now,” Fatau told Joy FM.

“We the experienced players in the team will be together and push the boys so we win and win well.

“We have no option but to win. We know it will be difficult but we believe in ourselves and we know we can do it.

“So we are preparing well.” He said.

Ashantigold are playing in the Champions League by virtue of their status as Ghana league champions.

The Chief Executive Officer of Ashanti Gold Sporting Club, Cudjoe Fianoo says the club is well prepared financially for their CAF Champions League campaign.

The Miners were reported to be financially handicapped for the upcoming champions league journey.

But Cudjoe has revealed that AngloGold Ashanti has promised to make funds available soon, whilst the Ghana Football Association has also offered the club financial support.

He added that with the good news hovering around the club the team has no excuse if they fail to beat Algerian side, MO Bejaia on February 14 at the Len Clay stadium.

“We have no excuse not to beat M.O Bejaia,” Fianoo told Accra-based radio station, Asempa FM.

“We are not facing any financial difficulties at the moment, because I have received a call from the Mines (Anglo Gold Ashanti) that money is ready for the Bejaia campaign and also the GFA has decided to assist us.

“The playing body is also poised to excel in the game,” he said.
