Revealed: GHALCA Election Nomination Forms Out

Prices for the Ghana League Clubs Association’s (GHALCA’s) nomination forms has been revealed.

GHALCA, the mother body of all football league clubs in the country will go to congress to elect new officers on April 21.

Forms were made available for interested candidates to file their nominations before March 21.

Sportscrusader.com can confirm that nomination forms for all positions in the association is GHc 100. 00, but the figure varies when filing the nomination.

Candidates for the chairmanship position will pay GHc 500.00 when presenting their completed forms, whilst candidates for the vice chairmanship and treasurer position’s will accompany their nomination form with GHc 400.00

Any other position in the Association goes for GHc 300.00.

Kofi Poku, Chief Executive Officer of king Solomon FC and Cudjoe Fianoo, CEO of AshGold both picked up their nomination forms for the chairmanship position last week, whilst Alex Akumey, Vice President of Ghana Premier League side, New Edubiase United, picked his form on Monday for the Vice Chairmanship position.

Samuel Abuabre picked his form to contest as representative for the Division One sector in the Association.

Nana Oduro Sarfo, GHALCA organised competitions ticketing chairman, and Isaac Wilberforce Koomson, incumbent Vice Chairman of the Association picked their forms today (Tuesday).

Alhaji Ali Braimah Raji, incumbent Chairman of the Association is yet to pick his nomination form.

The closing date for candidates to file their nominations is March 21.

The Ghana League Clubs Association, (GHALCA), will open nominations for interested candidates to pick forms for its upcoming elections on Thursday, March 10.

The Association will go to the polls on April 21 for elections, and forms will be made available to all interested candidates on Thursday.

Alhaji Ali Raji, incumbent chairman of the mother body of all league clubs in the country, has made public his candidature to run for a second term.

He is expected to wrestle with Nana Oduro Sarfo, GHALCA organised competitions ticketing chairman, Cudjoe Fianoo, Chief Executive Officer of the Ashanti Gold Sporting Club and former Administrative Manager of the Association, Isaac Koomson, vice chairman, and Kofi Poku, Division One League representative at the body for the topmost position.

The elections will be held on April 21 and winners of the various positions will be sworn into office on April 28.

Ghana League Clubs Association Chairman hopeful, Kofi Poku has told Nana Oduro Sarfo he will not withdraw his candidature and support to win the upcoming elections.

Kofi Poku, executive member of the Ghana League Clubs Association, made public his interest in the chairmanship position of GHALCA.

But Nana Oduro Sarfo alleged that Kofi Poku,  a football administrator cum businessman, has withdrawn his candidature and will lead his campaign team to win the elections scheduled for April 21.

And Kofi Poku is disappointed Nana Oduro Sarfo is spreading unfounded rumours.

“I have not backed down and I won’t back down, ” Kofi Poku told Happy FM.

“I have not told him I am withdrawing from the race and I don’t intend to do withdraw.” He added.

Nana Oduro Sarfo explanation on why Kofi Poku should withdraw from the race was that, he campaigned for the former B. A Stars chief executive officer to win the seat of the Division One League Board in the previous elections.

But Kofi Poku insist their vision for GHALCA vary.

“We are two different people with different ideas and how we can implement them. His claims that he campaigned for me to win doesn’t mean I should withdraw what I believe I can do for Ghana and for Ghana football.”

GHALCA went to congress last week and fixed (February 16) April 20 for its elections. Nominations forms to candidates will be made available on March 10.

Kofi Poku will battle incumbent Chairman of the association, Alhaji Raji, chief executive officer of Ashanti Gold, Cudjoe Fianoo, Nana Oduro Sarfo and Isaac Wilberforce Koomson for the chairmanship position.

The vice chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association, Isaac Wilberforce Koomson has revealed that the association’s congress is basically to render accounts for activities of the gone by year.

GHALCA delegates will meet at the Accra sports stadium media centre on February 16 review the 2015 year and probably fix a date for the elections in April.

But Mr. Isaac Koomson, former Chief Executive Officer of Stark FC revealed the main agenda is to audit their accounts and make public their roadmap to the elections later this year.

“Usually every year, GHALCA renders a report of work over the year and this is just one of its annual general assembly or gathering that GHALCA attends every year,” Isaac Wilberforce Koomson told sportscrusader.com

Isaac Koomson, who is rumored to be interested in dislodging his chairman, Alhaji Raji for the association’s chairmanship seat also disclosed that GHALCA’s congress delayed this year due to the litigations which has engulfed Ghana football.

“This year’s congress delayed because of the litigation in our football and the G-6 tournament that was brought in to replace the Top-4 competition,” he said.

He also revealed the itinerary for the congress, however, whether the association will announce the availability of nomination forms for interested candidates is still yet to be known, but the roadmap to the elections will be announced.

“During the congress, we will audit our accounts and review our activities over the year (2015), and also give the roadmap to our elections this year.

“These are the things basically we will be looking at when we meet tomorrow for the congress.

“Any other thing we are likely to discuss will fall under other matters.”

Isaac Koomson To Announce GHALCA Candidature After Congress

Deputy chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association, Isaac Wilberforce Koomson will vie for the chairmanship position with his boss, Alhaji Raji and four others, sportscrusader.com sources has revealed.

The former Starke FC’s chief executive officer who swept off stiff competition from big wigs like Jones Abu Alhassan and Nana Oduro Sarfo in the 2012 elections to the win the vice chairmanship position will go for the main seat in April.

According to sportscrusader sources, Mr. Isaac Koomson has a lot of respect for the chairmanship seat and the incumbent boss, Alhaji Raji, thus, his decision not to make his candidature public.

GHALCA will go to congress to on Tuesday February 16 to fix a date for the elections scheduled for April and Isaac Koomson will make his interest in seat public.

Should Isaac Koomson announce his candidature to the general public, he will join Alhaji Raji, Cudjoe Fianoo, a former administrative manager of the association, and Kofi Poku who  has also been rumored to be interested.

The Ghana League Clubs Association congress will be held at the media centre of the Accra sports stadium.

Bashir Hayford Explain AshGold Approach Against Bejaia

Ashanti Gold head coach Bashiru Hayford has assured the club fans and Ghanaians that he has mapped out strategies to beat MO Bejaia on Sunday.

The Miners will host the Algerian side at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium in the first round of the preliminary stages of the CAF Champions League.

There have been worries for the club’s unimpressive display in pre-season, leading to chief executive officer, Cudjoe Fianoo saying that the team is far from ready for the competition.

But Bashir Hayford, having watched the Algerian side, believes AshGold stand a chance of winning the fixture on Sunday.

“I have had the benefit to watch videos of their games and I realised most of their goals were scored from headers. They operate most often from the wings and take advantage of their height to score from headers,” optimistic Bashir Hayford told Atinka FM.

“They are very strong, so our defenders also need to match them in the air and also be a bit physical.

“At the same time any time we attack them by using air balls, they will clear such balls and they won’t cause any threat upfront, so we will put them down and in situations whereby they get all the air balls from the 18-yard box, we would have to shoot from behind to catch them unaware.” He said.

MO Bejaia arrived in Accra today (February 12) and will fly to Kumasi before travelling to Obuasi train at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium.

Delegates of the Ghana League Clubs Association, the mother body of all league clubs in the country will meet on Tuesday February 16 to fix a date for April’s elections. 

GHALCA will go to congress next week Tuesday, confirm date for which nomination forms will be made available to interested candidates and subsequently fix a date for April’s elections.

Incumbent chairman of the association, Alhaji Raji will have to wrestle the Chief Executive Officer of Ashanti Gold, Cudjoe Fianoo, ex-Berekum Chelsea boss Nana Oduro Sarfo and his vice chairman, Isaac Koomsom for his office in the coming elections.

Cudjoe Fianoo, who lost out onthet Ghana football association’s Executive Committee membership last year has thrown his hat into the race.

And Nana Oduro Sarfo, tipped by football administrators to win the seat, told sportscrusader.com last week that his vision for the body is unquestionable and he wants delegates to vest their power in him to restructure the organisation.

GHALCA of late has lost its organizational powers and the opportunity to redress the problem solely lies in the hands of delegates.

The Chief Executive Officer of Ashanti Gold Sporting Club, Cudjoe Fianoo says the club is well prepared financially for their CAF Champions League campaign.

The Miners were reported to be financially handicapped for the upcoming champions league journey.

But Cudjoe has revealed that AngloGold Ashanti has promised to make funds available soon, whilst the Ghana Football Association has also offered the club financial support.

He added that with the good news hovering around the club the team has no excuse if they fail to beat Algerian side, MO Bejaia on February 14 at the Len Clay stadium.

“We have no excuse not to beat M.O Bejaia,” Fianoo told Accra-based radio station, Asempa FM.

“We are not facing any financial difficulties at the moment, because I have received a call from the Mines (Anglo Gold Ashanti) that money is ready for the Bejaia campaign and also the GFA has decided to assist us.

“The playing body is also poised to excel in the game,” he said.
