Meet The MVP of The Ghana Rugby Club Championship - Hamza Mohammed

The just ended Ghana Rugby Club Championships has seen numerous talents in all the teams that participated,but undoubtedly the most valuable player of the tournament was Hamza Mohammed of the Kumasi Conquerors.


 


The 20 year-old, started playing rugby at the age of 10 when he was a student of Queens model school in Kotobabi. He told sportscrusader.com in interview that “I started watching the Western Province Rugby Team In South Africa,and i really admired the way they played, i suddenly develop interest in the sport”.


 


The Center and the Full back player was a sensation to watch during the championship  being the top scorer from penalty spots and conversions, he showed why he is the best in the rugby championships especially in the finals where he scored majority of the points for Conquerors.


 


In an interview with sportscrusader.com Hamza said “InshAllah I see a bright future for me. Looking at building and breaking through to international clubs and also being a strong part of the Ghana National Rugby Team, future looks bright InshAllah”


 


Hamza who is also the vice captain of the national team is also pleaded with the authorities in government to support the sport because there are numerous talents that can grow the sport and win medals for the country.


 


Going into the future Hamza said he dream of playing for Chiefs Rugby Club in New Zealand, he will also like to exhibit his talent in the game even though he admitted how is still learning the various techniques and skill in the game of rugby.

I"ll Return RTU To Premier League - Hamza




RTU Belong To The Premier League Not Division One – Former Black Stars Player


 


Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Real Tamale United legend, Hamza Mohammed has set for himself a task of returning the Tamale based division one club back to the top flight of Ghanaian football – Ghana premier league.


 


The pride of the North as the club is referred to have been out of the league since the 2012/13 season and have been battling to return and take their ‘rightful’ place. Hamza, a former player of the club is currently the head coach and has pledged to return the club amid its financial difficulties.


 


Mohammed, who was member of the Ghana national under-17 football team at 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship in Nigeria said in an interview, “is been very difficult for the club in the last three seasons or so because we had some little challenge with our sponsor – WIENCO that is why we find ourselves in the division one.


 

He addedd, “not playing in the top flight for some time now is very bad for our great club especially if you are in indigene (local/native) and a former player, so that is why we have all decided to come back to help the club stage a strong come back to the premier league.”


 

The 35 – year old former Black stars midfielder was part of the Ghanaian 2002 and 2006 African Nations Cup teams.
