Mahatma Otoo Set For Marseille Switch

Information reaching SportsCrusader.com indicates that Sogndal’s Ghanaian striker, Mahatma Otoo is set for a move to French giants Olympic de Marseille in the coming days. 

The former Hearts of Oak goal poacher is regarded by Marseille officials as a perfect replacement do for Belgium forward Michy Batshuayi who left the club for Premier League side Chelsea last month.

Reports in the French media suggest that Marseille have already tabled a bid for the highly rated striker and negotiations are far advance to get him in their books.

Otoo has been in impressive goal scoring form since joining Sogndal in 2013 from Hearts of Oak.

The 24-year old scored 15 goals to help his side regain promotion to the Norwegian top flight after a season long absence following their relegation in 2015.

Gilbert Koomson Excels In Sogndal Seven Goal Thriller.

Norway based Ghanaian midfielder Gilbert koomson flourished for his Elliteserien side Sogndal in a seven goal thriller against Molde FC.

The 22 year old attacking midfielder bagged two assist in a 4-3 win over the high flying visitors to extend his impeccable in the division.

Gilbert located Hannu Patronen with a pearling pass to open the floodgate just three minutes into the contest before adding his personal second on the 30^th minute mark.

The Ghanaian import was joined by former Hearts of oak goal poacher Mahatma Osman Otoo later in the second half as Sogndal urged out the spirited Molde FC.

The duo played crucial roles in the Norwegian second tier league during the 2015/16 European season to book top flight football for Sogndal.

Sogndal moved further away from the drop into the 9^th slot after a dreadful start to the season.

Mahatma Otoo reveals rejecting poor offers after Sogndal went down last year

Ghana striker Mahatma Otoo has revealed he refused to leave Sogndal even when they got relegated because interested clubs were making ridiculous offer.

The 23-year-old has once more again become a subject of intense transfer talk following his sterling performance in the past season.

Otoo’s 13 goals helped Sogndal secure a return to the Norwegian top flight but it is looking increasingly unlikely the Ghana striker will stay at the club.

A similar situation prevailed this time last year when Sogndal had suffered relegation.

Clubs were looking to sign their top performers but at a low cost with the expectation they are desperate to move as they didn’t want to play in the lower division.

This, Otoo says, was one of the main reasons he refused to make the move last year.

“The first year was good and we managed to save our premiership status, but the following year we got relegated and everybody thought that I will leave the club because I did not fancy playing in Division one,” he told Footballcrusader.com.

“Several offers came for me from other Clubs, some from Norway and from places like Germany, Spain, France and England.

“But what I realized was that most of them wanted to pay less for my services perhaps because they thought I was desperate to leave Sogndal FC.

“It was there I decided to stay on and fight for the Club to return to the Norwegian Premier League, as that I believed, will go a long way to prove my worth to them, and I am happy I did.”

FC Sogndal Ghanaian striker, Mahatma Otoo has mentioned that his decided to stay with his current club during their stay in the lower division because some clubs wanted to take advantage of his situation.

Mahatma who joined the Norwegian Club two seasons ago surprisingly stuck to the team despite being relegated last year to the Norwegian division one league.

“The first years was good and we managed to save our premiership status, but the following year we got relegated and everybody thought that I will leave the club because I did not fancy playing in Division one.”

It was there I decided to stay on a fight for the Club to return to the Norwegian Premier League, as that I believed will go a long way to prove my worth to them, and I am happy I did”.

With a few months left on his contract, Mahatma believes that the Clubs that have lined up for his signature will make a better offer than the previous ones.

“Right now I expect an improved offer from all the Clubs that are coming to sign me. For now I have a contract with my Club and they have been good to me so I will first listen to their contract extensions before anything else”, he added.

‘Come And Save Hearts Of Oak’ – Aziz Begs Vice President

 

Former Accra Hearts of Oak management member and chairman of chapter O, Abdul Aziz Futah has called on Ghana’s Vice-President Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur and former board chairman Ato Ahwoi to help revive the club.

Hearts have simply been poor in recent years with the Ghanaian Premier League crown eluding them since 2008.

The 20-times Ghana premier league champions were involved in a relegation battle durng the 2014/15 but were fortunate to finish in 13th place thanks to their goal difference superiority.

 

One of the club’s leading supporter, Aziz Futah wants the both  – Vice President Amissah Arthur and Ato Ahwoi who are life long fans of the club and shareholders as well to help revive the club.

Aziz said, “I want to call on his Excellency the Vice President of Ghana Mr. Amissah Arthur and Ato Ahwoi to come and save Accra Hearts of Oak as the team is falling.”

 

“I don’t think this current management love the club, anyone who loves the club will not bring this coach to Accra Hearts of Oak, the coach is here to build his CV and Accra Hearts of Oak is bigger than him.”

 

Hearts are yet to score a goal or win a match under new Japanese manager Kenichi Yatsuashi.
