Some great teams have missed out of champions league because of the failure to qualify in their respective league.Teams like Ac Milan, Liverpool, Inter Milan have all missed out qualification.
This has affected the revenue of big clubs who have missed out which is making them lose their statue as a big club. The President of Barcelona Josep Maria Bartomeu thinks the top clubs should be given special entry if they somehow miss out.
“Sometimes, for the interest of football, why not give wildcards like in tennis?”. He further added sometimes the top players don’t qualify and are given wildcards, he told BBC sports.
He also emphasized the need for a stronger Champions League and more and more interest for the football fans and to make it more competitive.”
