Court Injunction Was A Blessing In Disguise - Willie Klutse

Technical Director of Ghana premier league side, Inter Allies, Willie Klutse believes the talk around a court injunction obtained from the Tema high court by football fan, Babia Alhassan was a blessing in disguise to the success chalked by the impressive spectators at the various league venues.

The 2015/16 Ghana premier league season had been marred by bribery and match-fixing allegations and player ineligibility and these legal wranglings prolonged the league start that was initially scheduled to commence in December, 2015.

The new season finally kicked off on February, 20 and the spectatorship recorded at the eight league venues beginning with the league opener at Sogakope between WAFA and Kotoko suggested the fans had been overly hungry to catch a glimpse of the domestic game.

It was the first time in a long while league venues had recorded such impressive crowds and this had been viewed by pundits as a good sight for the league that seems to have taken a nose-dive in recent years but Willie Klutse, a member of the 1978 AFCON squad that conquered Africa thinks otherwise.

In an interview with sportscrusader.com, Mr. Klutse said, “what happened last week before the league games (Babia Alhassan’s injunction) was another form of advert that the clubs had or perhaps enjoyed. The fans trooped into the stadium simply because they wanted to know and see what will happen with the injunction news that was rumoured to have been placed on all football games.

“the radio stations, television and the online media were discussing it and it was good fo the game considering the number that turned up; very impressive as it boosted the moral of the players. It did put a value on the league justifying it as a good one and everyone wants to be a part of the success,” he added.

Match-week two of the Ghana premier league season comes off this weekend at the seven league venues except the Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Obuasi Ashgold game due to the Obuasi club’s champions league commitment.
